If I start seeing CTF-FP2-Rankin replacing all of the few non-CTF-FaceClassic servers on the master server I swear I'm coming after you guys.

Notice: Above threat may or may not be real.

Very nice selection of maps.

I did find a problem with CTF-Rankin, though. The triggered sounds (floorboards, steps near SR) play on both sides of the map. So, if a player triggers a puddle sound in the blue base, anyone in the red base can hear it clearly. It could be used to one teams advantage, by knowing where the enemy FC is headed. Oh, also there is a bsp hole lurking around the top level.

The other maps are all pretty much bug free though, save for a few dodgy weaponbases. ;)

awesome pack. great maps! :)

i feel that CTF-Rankin should have more done with it. the layout is awesome for CTF, but i think to make it like a completly different map, it should of had alot of changes look wise. i did not find the bsp hole slain was talking about, might have to go back and check for it. but good job on this kick ass pack!

The hole is right here ;): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/Slainchild/rankin.jpg

It's only on the red teams side though.

looks nice, darn inconvenient time to have ut2004 issues,
so it goes..

i see from the pics equinox got rid of the central boards for a more skillful jump thing. nice idea. i hope there haven't been too many other changes, 'cause it was practically perfect, with the exception of the blue team jumping issue
i don't know about the bsp, cannt play it:cry:
oh, forget this idea that you should make a map that is similar in layout to this but not Rankin. i mean, whats the point? probably you just beat epic to the punch. i love the layout (beta)

well Alkazex, i've been waiting for this "final" for a long time, and i guess i'll install it sight unseen to my server since it was so l33t last time i saw it.

as far as the other authors in the pack, i'll play them when i can (may have to move to work and install there. whats the worst that could happen, they could fire me ;"thank you lord!") though by the names i see, i expect some nice ctf goodness

OK, spoutoff time I guess.

Played all 5 maps offline, didn't really enjoy it much. All the maps have spots where the bots go stupid. Not that I care about bots, but there you are. Also, most of the maps didn't run very well on my machine with bots in them... dunno what's up there, I ran FP1 fine.

So that's the bad news.

Good news is I just went and n00bed it up something awful on Darkside Battlegrounds and things started looking up. Ages and Rankin especially look like winners, and loose talk seemed pretty positive about Grizzled.

The clanners felt like Jungle Pass was too big, and it probably is for their purposes. I really enjoyed it though, it's a nice pub map and hopefully it'll show up on Cain's or somewhere -- base layout is really cool . If revision isn't out of the question, there are two things: 1. It needs team chevrons to aid with navigation, and 2. the pain sound when you exit the spawn room is irritating -- a fix for that would be badass.

Some other misc. stuff:

- I've heard about the HOM on Rankin but haven't seen it yet.
- Grizzled gave me the darkskins bug in places.
- Ages is too dark to be played without brightskins -- not that I expect it will be.
- All maps ran a whole lot smoother for me online, although a couple of guys mentioned that Rankin was "chugging" a little bit.

So yeah, thanks for another nice pack guys. Viva la CTF. :)

Awesome pack? All the maps are sweet. I also thought that CTF-JunglePass was a little on the large side, but its still a great level.
Good job!

wtf? i didn't mean to put that question mark in there. My bad. Correction: Awesome pack!!!!:D

Great work on your maps guys, they really turned out great!

In regards to the bsp hole in Rankin. I don't know how I missed this in private and public testing. (We did play games on this map and no one reported it.)

I will most likely release a fixed competition version with the bsp hole fixed (hopefully) and the sounds on puddles and such (my bad) fixed up in time. I want to wait a little while though to see if any new issues arise.

sweet.

I heard the pariah demo sucked, so it's nice to have these maps.

thanks!

Lol, I got to thinking about that... that's kind of a dirty trick, isn't it? A special gfx goodie just for the "Gameplay > Graphics" people, right? Hehe, that's evil, I like it.

But anyway as posted elsewhere, the look of neon players running around in that gloomy dungeon of a flagbase was really super cool... and, of course, totally playable. Dirty trick or not, GJ says I.

Here's a version of CTF-FP2-Rankin with the sound triggers fixed, and hopefully with the bsp hole fixed.

Gauntlet and Junglepass are the best ones IMO. However, in Gauntlet I never really know where I am, but neither did I know in UT99 in gauntlet.

That orbital2-lookalike, Zittarion has too much meshes, but has a good layout. The (extended) flag room is original.

Rankin has the best AI, still, I can't help having a bad taste in my mouth playing it, esp. the DD/100A part. :bored:

Grizzled simply doesn't work for me. It's huge, still manages to overdo meshes in the mini/flak room. It's too flat and too elongated overall.

Very Nice

My favorite is Grizzled followed by Gauntlet and maybe Rankin.
I havent played Ages online yet for some reason but im sure i will soon.
