I like your basic idea, I enjoy a good lava map, but now it's time to learn the terrain editor and light placing. Even if you just right click and say "add light" all over your map at random, that'll look better than just environment lighting.
But I guess this isn't the beta forums... :p

I'm pretty sure there's a distancefog and fogcolor or some similar setting in the same place where you set the ambient brightness.
Have you been to the UDN?

Some very basic suggestions: Screenshot. Or at the very, very least a direct link to a screenshot.
Download link that does not give me an error.
DescriptionIf you don't feel your map is worth even this small effort, I make the blunt assumption that it's not worth checking out.

looks pretty good, but maybe make the lava texture a bit smaller. it kinda looks streched. but the basic idea is good.
I usually just do zone info and set the lighting so it is the same all over the level too, but you can just add some colored lights are that to change some areas if u wanted.

go to zone lighting and fiddle around wiht the fog colours, and also the distances. You thne must enbale the fog option to be true in another part of the zone properties.
