Comments: Its my first character for UT2004. Made in about 2 weeks from scratch for a college project. Painted all the textures myself in Photoshop, and included team skins too.

It looks VERY nice!
My problem is that his mask should have used the teamcolors. On each picture it's green. Teamcolors only on the boots is quite misleading. (Imagine a match in ctf4 where you try to headshot him just because his face suggest he's on the green team.)
Is it CTF4-friendly, anyway?

Good work.
I think I would've done more for the team skins though, going to get a few friendly kills when he's poking his head over a hill.
edt: hmmm, my teamcolor crit has been stolen before I could hit the send button. Okay, how about this, did he break his legs at some point because his arms looks like he's been on cruches for a few centuries. :p

wow, that was quick, feedback already!
re. team colours - I took the screenshots and movie clip before I fixed the team skin head textures. They didn't work properly at first and I had to do the screenshots and clip to hand in for college. Since then I have made the team skin heads (which were always there) work properly.
I also added gloves to him at the last minute which don't show in the screenshots or clip but are in the render.
fyi - you have to add TeamFace=1 to the UPL file for team colours to work on heads.
re. CTF4 - I only did red and blue since they are the defaults. If people really want 4 colours thats great, I can do them. Not played CTF4 tho, so have to check what the extra colours are first. Also I've never seen 4 colour team skins on other characters in the game, but I assume you add _2 and _3 to the file names, like _0 for red and _1 for blue?
p.s. yes, he's been working out :haha:

CTF4 is a custom gametype, retail characters don't have green and yellow teamskins. But quality models and skins released nowadays support them. ;) :noob:

Great model ... I'd have to disagree with others who think that all quality models nowadays have to support a customn gametype with 4 team colors. I think it is up to the developer himself if he wants to support a non-standard gametype. But you should always have the normal red and blue tcs ... but yeah this is a really solid model and you should decide for yourself if you want to support a custom gametype. You don't always have to jump on a bandwagon. There are many many of us who don't play custom gametypes that have 4 teams going at eachother at once.
Of course you could add them as an update and enhancement ... but don't feel you need to support the extra tcs right out the gate. Our mod for example has solid models and skins but not 4 team colors and they won't because we made a decision to support only standard UT2K4 gametypes and ours of course. So the decision is yours but I am sure the majority of UT2K4 players won't complain about not having green and gold team colors.
BTW I love your Tcs ... they are pefect. Not overdone like so many models I see. Very good.

Looks like a great model too, Stuart. I haven't had a chance yet to play him but he looks like a welcome addition to my roster

nice to know after all the late nights/early mornings that people actually like what Ive done. Cool to see people have downloaded and used my guy in their games too (buffy - he was born to ride that bike!!)
Have a few alternate versions planned with new textures and I'll certainly do CTF4 skins as quite a few people have mentioned it to me already.

erm.. actually I have no idea! I have never administered a server for UT and not made a character for the game before this one either.
I will find out and let you know.
Of course if anyone else knows or can point me in the right direction to find out that would be great.

I tried the little tutorial and it works
I was able to create TagMod.u en RipMod.u
So in order to push the Tag model to clients you need these serverpackages:
ServerPackages=Tag
(for the ukx)
ServerPackages=tag_textures
(for the textures)
ServerPackages=RipMod
(the compiled u)
ServerPackages=TagMod
(the compiled u)
and the server needs these files:
...\System\tag.upl
...\System\TagMod.u
...\System\RipMod.u
...\Textures\tag_textures.utx
...\Animations\Tag.ukx
However, be warned, RipMod.u en TagMod.u already exist on redirect servers (such as http://uz2.gameservers.net/ut2004/ )
They're different filesizes than mine because these files were made with JAFO's Botmanager.
So I suggest using those already existing.

Mine is a private server where I always play with friends. So I can push whatever I want.
But at least now people know how to do it for this model.
And a fine model it is ! :D
