Someone have ingame shots or comments?
Models look sweet in render, but in-game is where it counts.
Especially shader materials and animations, can make or break a model too.

I have tried them in game and they do look nice, I'll get some screenies up after I get some sleep... they are worth the DL though :)

Agreed. I like how the armor looks in the renders.... It's a little too shiny for me in-game...

Only bug I could find is one I see often ... when you use the Invisible Adr combo the heads still show up. Other than that these are very very well done models. The God-Horus is my new in-game character ... thanks. Nice to see someone make a really great Egyptian model and give it some cool skins. :D :up:

I think he means a toned down specular version.
That was one of the only things that could be improved on the shaders, using a much more elaborate specular mask to modulate the env map better since it seems the first skin is too shiny.
Like I said at BU, I'll be willing to show some tricks if your up for it.

It looks to me like the faces are "inside" the model, which would explain (to my limited knowledge) why they show up with invisibility activated, since they're not on the outside of the mesh (which is where the invisibiity texture gets applied). Can you confirm this? I don't have a whole lot of experience with the engine, let alone modeling but that's the best theory I can come up with.

Sabre ... there a two things I wanted to bring to your attention.
The first is that you should rename 'Luxor' as there is already a character named Luxor that is a taken name by UT2K4 for bots ... this Luxor in Ut2k4 is actually Hyena.
The other thing is the team colors are great ... but can you fix the red one for Horus to be more consistent with the blue tc? Currently the arms are also red but if you are on the blue team they are the regular color which looks better actually .. imho anyway. :)
Again these are great models ... The way the metal shines really makes them seem more divine to me ... like they are gods. Dulling that would make them seem more human. But again if you offered alternate versions that would be the best way to go. So think about adding three more skins with more of a worn metal look. Kind of like the Robots in UT. :)
Edit: One other thing ... what is up with those fingers on the models hands ... they look a bit too much like short "Wolverine Claws" so maybe fatten them up just a bit ... a very very minor thing top this is true .. but still with models like these I am sure you want it all to be correct and as close to perfection as you can make them. :D Are those actually special kinds of gloves or hand extensions? If so then that would explain the look and totally negate what I just said. :haha:

yeah Luxor needs to be renamed, even some antitcc servers kick you for using or having it because they don't like the same name being used by 2 skins. otherwise Great job:up:

The reflectivity is a matter of choice I guess. I sent Sabre some edited alphas he can use, if he wants to use them.

Its nothing so ugly it makes the model worthless, dont get my wrong. Its just one of things that could add even more visual candy to an already fabulous player model. :up:
The one on the left is the shader with the custom specular mask, and as you can see little details in the armor are much more visable while still keeping the sexy gold look everyone seems to be ga-ga over.

The model its not make it for any mod....
@AnubanUT2: The fingers are part of the armor....How a special gloves... (Looks like gloves of anubis model... But for a polygons limit i dont make it more detailed...)
Btw, I like how the team color looks in the horus model....The blue and red team skin its applied on different parts for each one....

I pointed this out on the first page and someone replied with a good fix. I am sure that it will be added since ST is doing so much with this great model.
Sabretooth ... will you still keep the original skins as an option for those of us who like the super shiny gold look? And as for the team colors no biggie at all ... but I do like the way the Blue one is better than the red. Personal choice only and nothing more.
Meant to tell you that the Karnak skin is simply incredible, the animation rocks and it actually reminds me a little of this character named Karnak from Marvel Comics. He looks like an Inhuman ... great stuff and I am really looking forward to seeing the updated versions.
If you ever want to do work on a mod let me know ... you have excellent skills. :)

Nah, it's because he's using 3 seperate textures. Only two skins are supported on characters, unless you create a custom species and hack it a little bit like Epic did with the Xan skin.
Incidentally, the devine God-Horus shall soon have a female friend to frag with :D

I guess it wont matter, this one will be a high poly normalmap source for future use.

and err... Dark/Sabretooth/EE/whoever likes to do Egyption models: anyone ever consider doing an Isis model? I seem to recall her being most closely associated with snakes, I believe....
And of course from taht short time I played the Ragnarok Online beta, I have forever associated Isis with a lamia like creature >_>
Anyone have any ideas on making a model with a snake for a lower torso? =D

Well, I only started work on her yesterday, so she's not 'finished' yet, but I have just finished the main meshwork and am currently tweaking and generally getting ready to unwrap her :)

And for the record: Invis is one of my favorite adren combos. Only thing I use more often is Speed in CTF ^^

There seems to be a problem with the new version of
God Horus... most of the time when myself or other people I know join a server, our model goes to the default player jakob. This seems to only do this with the non-shiny versions... any idea why?

4 Dedicated Servers
I finally got the model working on my server :)
Dont know if every step is required,.. but it works for me
There were 2 problems i ran in to - maybe this information will come in handy for people who want to push this model from their dedicated server - maybe someone else can benefit from it too.
I spend some time on this model to create a GodHorus.u file yesterday; Since it kept failing,.. here is what i did.
1) Install the model in your UT2004 game.
2) I always use Jafo's Bot manager 3.0 - open the GOD_HORUS.upl file in JBM
3) While creating the models server file, i noticed the following:
The texture file inside the GOD_HORUS.upl file is named <Texturefile>Tx - > because Servers do not like this, rename the texture file that comes with the model, so the "X" is undercase -> Tx
4) When using Jafo's botmanager,.. remove the model description from the model and set it to default (you dont need it when pushing files from the server.)
5) Because of all the brackets and minus signs in the models name, the classes compile fails... So rename the characters in Jafo's bot manager (i did to GodHorus for the normal version and GodHorusSv for the shinny version)
6) Save the GOD_HORUS.upl file,... copy it from your UT2004\system directory onto your server.
7) Copy the directories (in my case) KeopsMod, GodHorusMod and GodHorusSvMod and so on from the UT2004 directory to the root of your server
8) Copy the KeopsMod.u, GodhorusMod.u and GodHorusSvMod.u files onto your server; Now add them to the ServerPackages list including the textures!
9) Put all the (compressed) files on your redirect server and your done!

This is the most beautiful model I have used yet. I am still torn between this and one of the catgirl models , noteably Elektra since I used to go by the name of Kitty: Goddess of Snarks on TFC server Girl Power... (if u know tfc, you know us yay!) anywho...
But I still like Horus more. Once a female variation comes out. I'll have found my FAV model. I hear that DarkSaber was going to make a female version called Neith. I hope to see that soon since I missed when the pic was up!

I tried using this and I dont know if anybody else has this problem but it wont allow me to play in single player mode through the offline tournament play. It will in the instant action mode but when I choose god horus it wont load in the single player mode, the screen goes black and all I hear is music, its not the resolution as some have thought and I can use Horus in the Instant Action mode of the game with no problems. If anybody knows a solution let me know. This character is great but I thought I would alert you guys in case anyone has the same problem. It will allow me to create the profile but when time comes to play the first round to qualify in the tournament, all I get is a black screen and music and i have waited a while and it still will not load. Other characters it will let me use just not that one for some reason. Any ideas let me know.
If I may add to that...
It works for me, but I do get log warnings about missing animations every time.

I think the game doesn't like or allow custom models. It did the same thing to me too.

I think DarkSaber is still working on that female egyption model. But it's on the backburner while he works on a weapon mod of his, or some such. (you know, the one with the ripjack and stinger and shtuff)
I believe he also had a few shots of her skinned, but I forget where.

I found a way to fix the problem with the model reverting to Jackob on-line. It had to do with all the crap added to the character name in the upl file. once I changed the names and reloaded UT2004 it worked fine. This is what my begining of the UPL file looks like for me now:
Player=(DefaultName="Ghorus",
Player=(DefaultName="Karnak",
Player=(DefaultName="Keops",
Player=(DefaultName="Horus",

I got the exact same problem. First the intro doesnt start, just black screen. ESC back to menu, when I reload the profile I'm in the first qualification league etc. and when I try to play the first 1on1 match there it just shows a black screen, but the game doesnt crash because hitting ESC opens the usual menu through which I could go back to the main menu or exit.
Wanted to create an egyptian team ;D
Anyway, awesome models. Would like to see a Horus version with glowing lights like the Karnak one.

Wonder where Sabre went. I was looking forward to more models from him as he does such good work. I've been using the God Horus model as my player character for over a year now. Great work.

The models are great, played alot in instantgame, exept.... at servers who support them you lite up like a torch in the night.:eek:
Prolly i would like to be a lil bit of "invisible" wilst playing online.:p

Just try to use them in instant action or online. Single player is not very "mod friendly."
