NAME: DM-Talus
COMPATABILITY: UT04, most recent patch
DESCRIPTION:My very first Unreal Tournament 2004 map is now complete.
-DM-Talus is basically my "redux" on Antalus at night, in a warmer locale.
-2-4 players, DM and TDM.
-no bio rifle, no superweapons, all the other regular DM weapons included.
(d/l is roughly 7.5 MB).
COMMENTS: Let me know what you think. All the static meshes and all but 2 textures were taken from stock maps.
The two starfield textures in the skybox are of my creation.

Screenshots look pretty good for a first map. Much better then the typical DM-BSPCube#12943 first map ;)

Thanks! I wound up spending a ton of time on it...that's what happens when you throw your back out and have nothing to do but lie around the house.

very nice, i loved it. Played a round of DM with 3 bots to 50 kills and it has great flow, definately dont want anymore than 4 though...Only few little hitches i found are some of the small ledges you have to jump to get up, obstructing movement. The bots don't really go for quad damage from what i saw either.
Fun map, definately will be used in some of my smaller matches :)

does anyone else notice the really high fps stats in the upper left corner?, :) high fps is good
that skybox looks kickass although slightly generic, would download if I didnt have a grand total 20 mb left on hard drive

I rather like the reddish hue of the level, and I really like the skybox.

I also noticed the issue w/ the bots not going pell-mell for the U-damage....but I left it up there because I figured that it (hopefully) wouldn't be an issue w/ human opponents. :D
With regard to the ledges and rock static meshes....I deliberately made some of them a little challenging to get up. The case I'm thinking of is the open terrain corridor that runs up to the Armor pick up. I wanted to a) make it tough for people to get out of it (i.e.: you commit to the armor, you better go all the way!), and b) make it easy to snipe at people going for the pickup.
Of course, I didn't make a lot of blocking volumes for the level, so there are other areas that are also "sticky"....perhaps inadvertantly.

Cool! I tried to make it as fast as possible...sadly, the skybox is why it's a 15 MB download. :D

Outdoors, Crazy, Fast, Nice Flow, Good Weapon/ammo placement, Bots that Kill ... this is a really solid map ... I would only say redo the skybox ... maybe not sooo many stars a few planets in the distance and maybe some rotation. I don't think the wooden planks really go with this .. maybe some rock formations ... But still this is a good fast map that will keep you moving. :) :up:
