Hellow

I want to create a special bridge over a huge abyss. The basic concept is that there is no steady bridge. The bridge will be formed stone by stone when you run over it, so only right beneath the player there will be a part of the bridge/path.

I am still a novice but I have a good idea how to put this together. attaching objects to eachother would certainly help.

My question is how do i get one mover to trigger another one?

have you been playing dm-reconstruct recently?

angel mapper used a nice little trick to give a similar effect, im sure you can work out what she was doing, and implement something similar.

Good freaking luck, took me 3 solid days to put mine in. You'll have to have patience to do things that would kill a normal person. ;)

Awesome!! I have finished my ace bridge across the large abyss. It is built ip by 89 coble stone rocks in all shapes and sizes, crazy ****. It looks amazing!!

Now v got 2 more tricky questions for the experts :D

>>Is it possible to light-render the rocks when they are in moverposition 1?? Cause the only time you see them is in moverposition 1 and not 0 (in wich the r light-rendered).

>>Is there a way to make the bridge lighter for the unreal engine?? I have one of the best graph cards (my fps is always high), but m not sure if this bridge will cause a low fps with other players... :weird:

If you set the 'Mover->bDynamicLightMover' (or some property to that effect) then the mover should be lit at each key point based on the lighting information affecting it at that point.

lighter as in number of polys rendered?

if so, apart from optimising the heck out of the bridge pieces, in max/maya/etc, use of antiportal boxes for the 'dock' (i think am used a similar technique) would drop the rendering load (but only when the bridge was 'closed'

BrushRayTraceKey = 1. As for optimizing it, do what I did in Reconstruct and put antiportals around the area they're at when they're retracted.
