Not.

legacy-zeroskillz
10-15-2004, 01:04 PM
Again, this is not to impress or change anything for the most part. It's solely there to voice opinion, display frustration, and to eventually show CPL that they made the wrong choice. I'm not saying they will change it, I garuntee they won't, but making decisions over monopoly is retarded. It's already obvious that tournaments like these kill communities, simply because they select specific games, and people leave other ones to play that one for money, but it's moreso wrong to choose a game in which there is not even the slightest bit of interest.
I think that's all we are trying to say.

I honestly don't know why anyone is signing this. It's fun, sure, and it is already bigger than the PenisKiller community, but who honestly reads online petitions? It's like making a small Geocities webpage about why you hate camels: Nobody cares. I think the better thing to do would be to write intelligent (not FK U MAN U SUK) emails to Epic, and tell them that WE, the COMMUNITY, of UT2004, want our game to be represented, instead of a game that, while it's good, has no online community. We need Epic to fight for us... we just gotta get them off their asses. ;)
legacy-zeroskillz
10-15-2004, 01:15 PM
No, that wouldn't be the option, because EPIC could care less about pro gaming.

Yeah, and I'm sure they're going to care far more about a grammatically incorrect petition.
Have you even tried to email them? I think if they got enough emails, they'd realize that WE care about pro gaming, and want to see our game represented. Of course, if you don't try, then it won't happen. But I'm sure this online petition will do wonders.

Exactly. So why bother?
I'm pretty sure (PRETTY SURE, NOT CERTAIN) that the woman who did the Mothers Against Maddox thing had an online petition. Maddox is still up. :D (www.maddox.xmission.com) I've seen tons of petitions, I mean, does anyone honestly think the companies read them? They're ONLINE, petitions usually happen in real life, outside stores, corporations etc. I'm pretty sure online petitions haven't changed anything. Well, except for the percentage of fools who think they actually work.
And also, if Epic doesn't care about the pro gaming community, who is to say they'll even read the petition?

Unlike you, I actually am trying to do something for this community besides sit back. Regardless if you agree with me, in all aspects it's still for the greater good of this game, and it's an opinion, a voice, and a choice I have made.
I never intended this petition to change CPLs mind, but only as a voice, regardless of it being an internet petition, it still is one, and it holds value to some people.
So instead of hating my petition, look at the other aspects, what it's focus and mine are, to help the community of ut2k4. If you look at it from that perspective, most of the communities goals do not differ from mine, wether it be for competitiveness, or lasting of the game as a whole for something to play when you get off from work and want to have some fun on a pub.
Look at the whole picture, don't judge me by my actions from you have no knowledge of, just support the game you play, and that's all I ask.

I just feeling like killing those @ssholes at CPL. Always looking away from the Unreal series. Ever since that first UT2003 CPL everything went fubar between CPL and Unreal.
*sigh*
This petition won't do much. It will be lucky if we can even get someone at CPL to read this. Unless the numbers ^10 you can say bye bye to them even blinking over this poll =\

I signed the petition but i don't see Angel and the CPL backing down again. They pulled ONS from the summer event to replace it with TDM cause it fit better into their competitive scheme. Rumor on the CPL forums was that the euro gamers have a pretty big influence on the CPL and they wanted TDM. I don't know if this is true or not. The community has been trying to get BF1942 on the game list for a long time now and they keep saying they are looking into it but no go so far. I just go to the CPL for the cool T-shirts anyway.

nope it wont do squat, with midway and epic not backing it there is no chance. Plus Flatal1ty would rather play PK than UT as he has a good chance in PK and not much at all in 2k4. And the CPL will want him for name alone :(

It would actually have sounded plausible if he didn't add the comment about the new UT game. When has the fact that there's going to be a sequel EVER been a reason not to play the game that's out NOW?

OK. CPL guys. If you chose PK because they gave you a bunch of money, think of this: Nobody will be going to watch your silly PK matches because nobody cares about PK. Think of all the money you will lose on admission at the gate of the tourney. UT2004=fun to watch. So, even if Epic/Atari won\'t give you as much money as the PK guys to have their game in your tournament, you will still make more in the end by choosing UT, because its a game people are actually interested in watching. I know I would gladly pay whatever the price of admission is to get into an event and see Lauke do his thing in UT. Think about it. UT=more $$$ for you in the long run. Money does seem to be the only thing you care about.
