Does anyone know if there is any difference in FPS/processing cost between a static mesh applied directly to a terrain and the identical static mesh applied via a deco layer?

[Best guesses also invited.]

DecoLayers can cause nasty mouse lag if they're too thick. Also, if you're planning on using large meshes, use static meshes, as decolayers have no collision.

Deco layers can also be turned off by the user to boost fps (the foliage option)

They also fade to save fps, rather than the equivalent fps saver for static meshes-culldistan
