actually u hold it and then press buttons to command different things like "A" for regroup, just pressing it checks ur squad's status and ur objectives, and u cant command ur squad until ur meet up with gus and barid later in the game

THE Answer: well the COG standard helmets have a similar vision system as GRAW but they limit the solider's perpherial vision, so thats why dom and marcus, and the others dont wear them, actually cliffyb said that the soliders who decide not to wear them survive longer than the guys wearing the helmets
