Following quote discusses ONS-islandhop
from Beyondunreal.com
This map brings to mind some of the maps seen in Far Cry. Though I don't think I've seen water and foliage this luscious in any game. You can actually watch as water breaking on a bridge splashes sea spray to the rhythm of the lapping surf. A brilliant sunset skybox rounds out the eye-candy.
I find it hilarious that hal thinks the foliage and water in islandhop are better then that of FAR CRY. LOL!
Just had to mention that.

You know I thought that when I played Island Hop too. How much better Farcry's graphics are at rendering water and foliage is there for all to see imo.
LOL EPIC didn't spend all that time fixing bugs in ECE they wanted more water effects.:bulb:

Yeah, maybe if they start using Dx9 with Pixel Shader 2.0 or 3.0, but until then, Far Cry looks better.

Its not even comparable, farcry islands and water compared to those in island hop... LOL.

Island Hop does not have crabs.
Farcry has crabs.

It's obvious that farcry has better graphics but it doesn't feel as good as ut2k4. The water effect in islandhop is very nice (already been done in tropica, aedes and archipelago) but doesn't come close to farcry's water technique.

they're pretty hard to compare gameplay wise.. Far Cry is more the slow tactical game...

Yea what I meant is, Farcry's visuals in terms of water effects and foliage look awesome whereas the graphics in Island Hop altho quite nice, are a poor man's version of Farcry.
I love both games, well 2k4 more actually but to date I have not seen better environments than those in Farcry.

islandhop is a horrible map, and it cant even compete with farcry maps, thats just silly thinking...

Hey, I liked it.
Is it better than Far Cry? I guess not. The Far Cry engine uses some very advanced rendering features.
I probably wasn't very clear though. I was just wanting to compare the themes.
Glad you checked out the review. It took some time to round up everything. I thought it would be a good way for newcomers to check out everything ECE added to the game; including mods, maps, models, and vehicles.
