Since my thread seems to be missing in action since the great Atari Forums update of Aug. 13, 2004 I guess I'll have to re-post it. I noticed in a map or two that I was seeing the default texture on a few surfaces... one in CTF-DoubleDammage and the other in DM-CPB2-Summit. I asked if this is what other people were seeing too. According to whoever it was that responded what I was seeing wasn't typical. He said when he opened the maps in ued that the textures I should be seeing are inside the awglobal.utx package. So I pose the question, would anyone be so kind as to email me awglobal.utx from their install and see if it doesn't just fix my little dilemma?

for some reason it wont let me dl it, it says that internet explorer cant dowload it because it cant connect to the server or something like that...
and now i have another odd texture package problem... when i opened up my map it told me that it couldnt find some textures that are in a another package that starts with aw and that they would be set to null, then it warned that if i saved my map the textures would be saved as null... heres where it gets weird... the textures it mentioned werent in use in my map now, nor where they ever in my map... so i decided i better not save my map just in case so i just closed ued, i hadnt done anywork because i had just opened my map so it didnt matter, then i decided to restart ued and open a different map and see if i get the same error, i opened CTF-DoubleDammage because it had been on my list of recently opened maps and i got no error, i decided to try to open my map again to read the message again but i didnt get the message a second time. i figured i still better not save the map just in case, but what is going on with my texture packages? something is seriously going wrong here...

you can reinstall the game, sometimes textures dont instaqll correctly.

ok i guess ill give that a shot later today, but do you know if when i reinstall will i lose any custom stuff, for example i have the community bonus pack and i dont want to have to dl it again, will it still be there after i reinstall? and the same goes for maps i created, will they still be there?

What package/ texture is it moaning about? There are a few meshes and materials that - if used - will throw up the annoying error. It's nothing to worry about, just another thing Epic have screwed up ;)

And if you uninstall the game first, it'll leave all custom content where it is, so you can rename the UT2004 folder to something like UT2004_Backup or whatever, install the game again and just shift all the packages across from the old folder to the new. You can just install the game over the top as well, but if you want to be really safe, go for the uninstall then reinstall method.

i dont remeber which textures/packages it was "moaning":p about i didnt really look at it that long for whatever reason, but i do remember that one of them was a cubemap inside one of the packages that start with "aw" the thing is though, i wasnt using any textures from any "aw" packages... it all seems very odd.
i will reinstall in a few hours i guess, thanks for all your help regarding that subject :)

What package/ texture is it moaning about? In the spirit of clarity I decided to post a screenshot of the error message I get when I load my map. http://img49.exs.cx/img49/5582/junk1.jpg
So what does that mean? I am not using either of those in my map, this is confusing me... somebody please help me sort this out.:(

It always says that for me. I just ignore it, because my maps always still work, so...

I do have the same 'default' texture problem with some custom maps though. Weird...

Yeah, that's the warning I was talking about. Try this example:

Open SC_GDC_M.usx mesh package. Place mesh G_Light1_M_SC in an empty map and save it. Now click New map, and then reload the map you just saved. It'll give you a warning about missing MesaEnvMap. It's an epic bug, so don't worry about it :) As long as your map loads and plays fine, it's not a problem.

That's there because Epic forgot to delete some references to textures that don't exist, so if you're using a texture out of the same pack as the one with the missing reference, you'll get that error.

^^ Thats the answer i got in a thread i posted where i had that resource missing error. As far as i know, these errors do not effect the map in any way.
