View Full Version : Last Man Standing - Join As Spectator

While running a server with Last Man Standing, I know theres a way to stop new players joining the game halfway through (i.e. they join as spectators, and have to wait until the next round to play). Bloody annoying when you're about to win and someone joins (or leaves, and a new bot appears to take their place ;) )
Maybe I'm being stupid, but I can't see any option for this - can anybody shed any light on this? Thanks!

Standard answer from me: UT2003 or UT2004?
We really should get a Sticky that says people should mention what flavour of UT200x they are using (I know most things have stayed the same between versions, but other things have radically altered).

I need to have something to eat right now, so I'll look into this after that.
It may be something as simple as writing a new mutator (like I did for giving armour to players in LMS), but then again, it may have to be a new GameType. If I can do it through a mutator I'll change LMS Armour Bonus to include this new feature, if it's a new GameType I'm afraid I don't play LMS enough to warrant spending the time coding it (sorry to say it, but SPDT are already down on me for writing mutators for other server admins which are not official SPDT projects).
I'll have a bacon sandwich and see what I can do for you; can't say fairer than that.

Thanks mate - the wierd thing is that every LMS server I've ever joined has forced me to join as a spectator until the next round comes along - so I figured there must be a standard server setting for it (although in fairness they could well have been running a mutator)..... Enjoy the sarnie :)

In your UT2004 server sytem folder go to your UT2004ini
and look for this setting.......
LateEntryLives= and put how many lives can be lost before the
players are forced to wait for the next round as specs.

So I guess I can just set this to 1, meaning that as soon as a life is lost by anyone, all new joiners have to wait for the next round. Perfect - I'll try this. Thanks again ;)

I have two machine available, so I tried what you said CuTTingEdg3 and it didn't do squat, I still joined with the default lives even after the match had started. Maybe there is another setting somewhere?
