Description: This mech unit was modelled after a game called Mech assault for Xbox.
Comments: I'm still working on the texture and all the other good stuff that comes with it ;). But I wanted to get it out into the community to get some feed back. Also this is my frist model ever. Lol I wish UT2004 came with 3D Max instead of Maya.

UPDATES---->Disregard these [ics of the unit its being totally redone!!

HELP WANTED!!!------->I am currently looking for people who can texture this thing and also code it for me lol also I need some help on exporting it out of maya. One more thing as well where the hell do you find the meshes for the UT2004 vehicles and how do you get them into maya? Thanks!

[b]Credits: Myself also thanks the great support I'm getting you guys kick ass!!

It's a good looking mech.
Those feet look too small to support such a big'un though.
Looks like it would fall over in a slight breeze.

instead of [img] tags replace them with [shot][/shot*] tags (remove * when placing)...this will lower the resolution of the pics but it'll allow people to click the pics to make them bigger...

nice model btw...looks pretty nice

nice work!
But, that old question pops in now: Can you code the legs to go onto terrain properly?
Cheers!

nice cougar.
(yes, for those that are wondering, I'm still working on my mechas(I'm doing a very simple model atm to just get it all working), I'm still in the process of animating the thing, (aka custom skeletons blow monkey cheese when you know nothing about 3-d animation.:D ))

If you want some tips:
-make the legs a bit thicker.
-beef up the lower arms a bit.
-maybe shrink the side torsos vertically.

Sigma. On the suggestion of May texture importing. I would say don't. See what import file formats maya supports (theres always a chance a plugins exists), and see if 3dmax supports something that you can export to.

damn, that looks awesome! why death to maya? because of the watermarks? I hate those as well! Any info on texturing and coding? Are you going to do both yourself?

Keep up the good work!

Looks pretty cool, but the legs seem too thin to support that massive upper half... looks like a mechwarrior torso jammed on some star wars chicken walker legs to me; I suggest trying for more uniform styling. Good start though.

Mechassult for the xbox is moddled after battle tech (table top game), if you want some inspiration on how to make those mechs look you can go to www.solaris7.com . Its a great resorse for mechs. has lots of pictures and databases. though you may have to regester and go thorugh the mech desighner to look at the pictures, not sure though.

No offense, but the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe has much better to offer than MechAssault.

Yeah, the universe from which MechAssault came may be better, but that is how it is supposed to be. Especially since this was a first try for making a Battletech game on the X-Box for D1S.

Anyways, MechAssault 2 is gonna own, especially with the newer X-Box live capabilities.

(note: Please no X-Box/console bashing, this is just opinion)

Anyways, that is a very nice adaptation of the Cougar. I just hope it can work well, being a walker and all...

I like Heavy gear mech design a lot better than Mechwarrior style mechs.

There really should be an 'if' in there somewhere, otherwise that is a very depressing cheer indeed.
