Name: AS-SLT-StunTrack-BETA. (Name will be changed as soon as i think of a better one. It wont belong to my clan neither, a public release alone. :) )
Version: BETA.
Compatibility: UT2004.
Description: 2nd attempt i made, first at making racing maps. Just run around and get to the objective. If you can :p
Comments: :confused: Still a beta, only 1st objective done, and erm..., i want you to test it :D and inform me of any bugs you see.

Starting points for each team - upper is attacking, lower is defending.

The rails are meant to keep people from using shortcuts.

Was hoping to get some quick replys :( *shudders..*
Anyway, few bug discovered:
When you fall off inside a vehicle, the vehicles explode, but you're alive - Will fix ASAP.
More shortcuts discovered - Will be blocked though.
Some cubes needs to be removed since vehicles get stuck in them - Will be removed.
Thats about it.
Hoping to get more bug & idea report.:)

maybe shortcuts are a good thing? adds variety......
Racing maps just aren't interesting to me, maps like those just look like crap, theres nothing to look at.

an idea: special teleporters:
when you fall, there is a teleporter you can take in order to get to the objective another way.
since teleporters can be taken by only humans and not vehicules, do a temple-of-trials like way

Very... different.
I'd say extend it because most people running this on a server will also be running HBR and other racemaps, which take twenty minutes or so.
I'd say smooth it out a bit, cause it was a bit too blocky around curves and the bowl.
After the part where you shoot up the second box, it was very very easy, and without thinking, I dodged the fall-thru box before I even knew you could fall through it.
The raptors were difficult and easily got stuck in the walls etc.
Also, what do you do in the box at the end? I was in the raptor and couldn't find what to do...

The raptors get stuck? Thats a new thing.
I'll have to find out how to fix this.
Anyway, when you do get to the end at the raptor box, there will be toilet room. Its gonna be toilet race from there. :haha:
I said its a WIP. so meanwhile you just got to the box :p

from that turning wall (diagonal) that has to have a wall on its higher edge, i can see already people jumping from there to the end of the track:bulb:

Are you going to make movers that allow all the raptors to get to the box? You might also make the scorps respawn if they're left alone for a while. Until i got the hang of the map, I had them littered everywhere. :) One of my favorite commands for this map was "killall onsrv." Seems to have promise, but it does look really short. Maybe call it "Sprint to the Can!"

P.S. forgot to mention:
Why not put a small amount of terrain in that bowl to make it really smooth? Might add a nice effect. And path some bots to race. I could help you with this if you need it. Bots might do surprisingly well on this map.

I dont get this. I get to the first objective and complete it, but theyres still no way to get to the raptors, and even wih cheating i still cant win! whats up with that?

There is a small walkway next to that huge wall. Just walk around it.

I get that these map r all about gameplay...but i think really ppl should stop making maps like this that r for all extents and purposes really basic eye candy wise. ...just seems to me like a deevolution from what the UT engine can do :: shrugs::
ANyways good job still dude :) always nice nice to see new map ideas all the same :D

now just let me answer some questions:
Timoteck - you can win because thats the first objective, i just wanted to see how this map goes in online and in SP for others. And, for the 2nd question, theres a small walkway around that huge block. i will make it bigger and more noticeable.
jamie1224 - Thing is, you see the others collumns sticking up? they will lead in too, in a different way. :p

Again, it looks short since its only the start and also, unfortunetally i cannot add terrain, since i dont know how. :(
Bot pathing will be in the end, I will try to contact you about it.

Why are racemaps always like this? Bland concrete slabs in a big black void... Looks like ****. :down: Put some more effort into it and make it look like a real map.....

Why did these maps outbreak like this?
The frist one was acceptable because you could tell he was trying new things... but appently everyone decided theres nothing wrong with maps that suck, have no eye candy, and frankly.... just should not exist, please fix this maps, show people that 5 minute maps just gay...
If you tryed this with a DM map, you would get map, but because its a AS map, everything changes? the whole thing is stupid.
Look into new things, like cooler race paths (like running lights on the side and put stuff on the side.....
Do something! please im tired of these maps....... you can go so many places with these race maps!

Just an important update, which you all will like: I will redesign the map's atomsphere, surface and etc...
Getting a good help from the user "Phantomdream" about ideas and design.
Look forward to a better, unique and more fun map :D

Darklaser: these maps are created for gameplay, not for eyecandy. and if you want eyecandy, PM me and ill give you some eyecandy. Be warned though: It will be very eyecandy. It will blow your mind.
Also, once hydro and me have the full objectives and ideas done, I will post the story right here for all of you to read. That time, with spellcheck.

hydro, the ASroundEnd Trigger is your friend. use the objective as a trigger and set the round end trigger's tag to the same ;) :cool:

Hydro, dude, cmon. He's telling you [edited for safekeeping]. And you really might try changing that name. It's pretty juvenile. If you need help with terrain, just ask because it's really easy.

About botpathing... its unfair, they will have to be perfect or stupid, and it isnt fair for bots to go round track without falling off.

Nah, bots are stupid by default. Even if they can do the track perfectly, the defenders should still be able to stop them. All it takes is a couple well-aimed shots and those bots go crazy. Let'em miss one path node and see what happens hehe. Bot pathing just makes it where there aren't players standing at the base doing nothing. Check out MarZer's Highrise map. We just added pathing for the defenders. In my opinion, it makes the game much more fun.
Of course opinions are like Microsoft in the OS market. You can have any opinion you want. However, it's not the right one that usually gets heard. You usually only hear the loudest.

Took and mind, and made the platform after the wall bigger, so what you do actually, is jump around it.
