Hello. I hope this is the place to do this, if not please direct me to the correct spot.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Corona Leonis Entertainment is looking for one or more Level Design artists who can build solid, visually pleasing environments that are tactically robust and fun to play. Accepted applicants will be expected to deliver high quality, technically sound levels according to specification in a limited time frame. They will have at their disposal some of the finest environmental art the industry has to offer and the opportunity to work along side a team of highly talented professionals, all of whom are friendly and passionate about their work.
This position absolutely requires experience designing and completing levels, though that experience need not be commercial. Applicants must be comfortable designing levels both from scratch and from documentation or diagrams. The applicant must be capable of using Epic’s Unreal Technology and learn to use our own custom made plugins and applications.
Requirements:
1. Playable level portfolio
2. Must be self motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a group
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills
4. At least one publicly released level for a first/third-person shooter
5. Resolve, commitment, and passion for the art of game development
Preference to applicants with:
1. Familiarity with Unreal technology
2. Ability to create large outdoor environments (heightmap/staticmesh terrain, large amounts of foliage and trees)
3. Practical knowledge of 2D art tools, such as Adobe Photoshop
4. Practical knowledge of 3D art tools, such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Lightwave
Benefits:
1. Work offered is non-paid but may expand into contract or full-time work on our other commercial ventures with both remote and on-site opportunities
2. Work alongside some of the best artists in the Industry
3. Corona Leonis is a full-fledged independent game development company with no external controlling influences or interests and an ever expanding body of proprietary Intellectual Properties

As long as a 'job' is non-paying then it isn't a job, it's nothing more than a mod position.

Can't argue with that.

So this was the group that some people got angry about because they didn't think a professional company should be eligable for the MSU liscence, so yeah, I imagine they try to make any position sound as professional as possible.
Though it would be nice if you guys could clarify any available compensation. Being in the middle of looking for a real job myself this vagueness every employer puts forth has quickly become a personal annoyance.
The mod does look pretty spiffy though...

Hey guys, im sorry, want me to say:
"WE NEED A MAPPER, hee needs to be like OMG type good, yknow?? YEA, so talk to me if you know some1, thx, cya!"
If your going to get mad at us for using a modified template for our standard recruitment then dont talk to us, your not the type of person we are after.
I will post this part again to clarify any benifits of working with us.
Benefits:
The question is, do you want to be a part of that or not? Do you want to be a part of Eon? If not, shut up and stop nit picking the use of the word "job", its anoying.

The 'job' thing aside.. this is a very sweet looking project.

With game co. being folded by the parent co. all the time The word 'independant' is very attactive. And hey it's not like your getting paid to mod now.
'604'? that's BC right?
Westcosters should look into this.

People are nitpicky lol...
Sometimes the best experience involves no money what so ever. Enough said…
These guys are professional game designers and they are asking here in these forums to get one or two level designers in position that sounds to me almost like a trial period. If I was a level designer looking to enter the industry these are the type of chances you look for. Internship jobs or contract jobs. These guys have the right to enter the MSU also since they are not affiliated with Epic in anyway. I find it interesting how a company is taking so much interest in this contest. You guys should start seeing the value of this contest more so than just a sweet thing Epic is doing. Mods that win this contest can possibly become full fledged games. It is cool seeing a company in this contest because it shows how important this engine has become.
I also find it interesting not to bash these guys at all etc etc… But the finalist was said already and these guys were in the honorable mention place.
This could be a valuable experience to anyone who enters. I rather get into a company that has great artist than get paid by company with lack of imagination.

I agree with what you say rog but it just sounds weird after the seanboy debacle, that was another mod team which tried to act proffesional but failing in doing so so that's why i made that post.
If it's a internship then it's cool but it also sounds a bit like 'we want you to map for us so that we can win the MSUC'. After that it gets a bit vague, what will happen when they do win? Do you as a part of the mod team share in the prize? Will they use your maps in a possible retail game after they win the prize?
P.S.
The mod looks great, hope you find some good LD'ers :).

Legend of Vandora, a mod which aims to re-create the u1 feeling in ut2k4. We are building a mod which will be the sequel to RTNP with coop, all new weapons, etc, etc. We got a nice storyline with alot of depth to it about the nali legends etc. Currently still in pre-development but that's almost half of the work considering this mod.
As i'm one of the mod founders i have no intentions of leaving it for another mod :).
P.S.
Already saw the BU thread :), that's a sort of different way to atract people lol.
