Description:
High Speed Racing game with combat elements.

Comments:
This version fixes most of the bugs of the previous versions. Also, internet tab is working properly. Players who wants to join a game would not be bounced out if the game is ongoing, as they would be able to join as SPECTATOR :D providing the host has set the spectator number to something other than 0, and that the spectator slots are not taken up. Use your middle mouse button scroll to zoom-in and zoom-out. Move your mouse to rotate your view.

One new map, ANO-Outskirts has been added, and also fixed up Ano-Unearthed to be brighter.

Redpill has also created a new map for Anomaly, ANO-CorkScrew, by figuring out the stuffs for Anomaly tracks by himself. Do download it and join in the races! We're now waiting for him to do the final finishing up of the map, and to post the link to his map. Stay tuned!

Zerobit has put in alot of effort to test and fix it. And also special thanks to Redpill for being there to help us test the Internet play :D

Sadly, bot support still takes time as we are quite newbie to UT modding and need time to figure out how to get it working :P

Sorry man, but you can always race with other players at the moment, or if you are bored, maybe spectate a race that is going on :)

Great that spec support is added, we can finally wait for the next match, or chat spam to annoy racers...... :D
The new map outskits is awesome, not to many hard turns, meant for speed, but I keep hitting those damn overhangs! :mad:
great mod, hopefully it will catch on, and there will be more servers (Bots could help......)

I'm having problems.... the anomaly shortcut doesnt show up in the 'communty' section!
And when i make a shortcut to it manually, when i go to host a server it just goes back to the menu again

It looks really good though

Which installation did you downloaded ?
Problems with community section already resolved since version 0.2. If you downloaded the 0.4 zipped version, remove all 0.2 content first before installing -> Refer to the readme.txt files before installing. It got to do with the UT2K4Mod.ini file.

Hmmmm, thinking about it. Are other types of vehicles supported?? I have an idea for a something called a "gyro-cycle". Theres a very high poly version of this particular vehicle being made, and I reckon it might be a good addition (if I can get someone to code it once its made).

I haven't found any servers running this but it's been damn fun to play on my own. I'll have to get a few friends to play online sometime. And it'll definatly get played at our next LAN 'cause it is mad.

The only thing I think could be improved is the weapons. Alot of the time my weapons were shooting straight into the ground in front of me. I dunno how to improve them though.

Yeah this TC awesome, great job DEV Team.

And finally, i think i've found out how to make the server working behind the router.

I just add the port forwarding 7777 to the ip of the computer that is the server, in the router parameters.

And then, i modify these line in the
UT2004\Anomaly\System\Anomaly.ini

UplinkToGamespy=True
SendStats=True
ServerBehindNAT=True ---- this line I put True ----
DoLANBroadcast=False

and maybe make the same in the UT2004.ini

Guys, thanks for all your replies, and hope you guys had fun with Anomaly. If you are looking for people to play online, you can find us around 11pm Singapore time GMT +8. If you are playing around other times, do let us know! :) We're always looking for people to play with :)

Some additional points for new players to take note regarding controls, only boost on straights or parts of the tracks that are straighter where you feel you can control the crafts well, and whenever you feel you need to make a sharper turn, kill your engine by releasing your acceleration, and doing the turn, and then "catching" it back again when the desired turn angle is achieved. It is possible to hug the proper racing line with this method. Turns with booster are also possible, juz that you need to release the accelerator earlier. And you would waste your booster, as boosters are really more suitable for straights and more effective too!

its done by Redpill, who did the corkscrew map. This new map is fun! The layout is not too difficult and it looks cool too! Though its still in beta, but its already quite playable. Do check it out.. ok? :D

It looks really good. I've liked anomaly for some time now. It's a shame about the bugs in it (occasional collision errors where that invisible barrier thing turns on before you've got through it) but it's very good.

EDIT: Do you use S or KVehicles? And if the latter, how did you get it to work online???

btw. something i noticed that you should fix in the next patch, it will be very easy to fix, i tell ya. The thing I noticed is that the weapons that the hovercraft uses is available in the arena weapon mutator's list. This can be fixed by putting HideDroDown in the parameters of the inventory weapon class. it would look like this:


class MyWeaponClass extends MySuperWeaponClass HideDropDown;

We are currently in the process of adding bots, crafts and maps for the next release do keep a look out for us! Also, we're in the process of getting a new domain, web host and a redesign for our website! So do stay tuned :D The bots are now taking shape and we are in the process of finetuning them.

The personalities of the bots are taking shape, (all names are tentative, if you have a suggestion for name, do post here!:D) with GreenLightning, Lightstrike and bloodred being true hot blooded racers, and with Apocalypse. deathstrike, Armagadden being the truly bad ass of bots. There are also others in the works! How well they race? They can't 100% win us, but they are close, for the new map, my timing is around 2:13-2:18, GreenLightning is able to hit a timing of 2:14 sometimes. With the timing constantly around 2:16 to 2:20, that is if he doesn't get pestered or blocked by Apocalypse and gang! These are real bad ass and they seem to derive their joy from killing their opponents rather than winning. Though they do win sometimes.

This is just to illustrate how well the bots can run now, and hopefully its something for you to look forward to too!:)

Jelo, :bulb: we're definitely not on the same level as wipeout man haha but hope you'll like it all the same :D It'll be cool if you could host a server, if we live up to your expectations, but not many people seem to be able to meet up and play on the net at the moment. Seems like theres not much incentive for people to play for long at the moment. With the addition of bots, hopefully people will play longer and more people can meet up to play together :)

Maybe we should have a section in our new webbie for people to post their playing time? hmmmm...

Anomaly has failed to live up to expectation and failed to win in any categories other than Karma physics... :weird:

Hopefully we'll do better next time.

Some updates from us:
we now have a total of 6 different vehicles with 2 skins each, 2 extra weapons (one of them is something to deal with the guy behind .. :D ) Bots will be ready soon together with some other updates. :)

Sorry that you do not like the mod that much, maybe the steering of the crafts we have now are not suitable for you. For the new version release, we're retuning the vehicles and also making sure theres one to suit everyone. hehe. Basically, all the crafts will handle differently somewat. Thanks for your post, we'll try to improve on Anomaly somemore! :D

This realy cries for bot support but for the rest, this mod realy rocks. I like the use of colouring and the way it is played.

However, F-Zero GX is still thrice as good and thrice as beautifull, so for me, there's no reason to change (bF-Zero GX=pwnz=me>u=me>u at F-Zero GX=true)

Its probably version compatibility problem. The last patch tested with Alpha 0.4 version was 3236 build. Which UT2004 do you have there? and using which anomaly version ?

I found the problem.

When I was deleting a mod, I accidently deleted core UT2K4 files. So I reinstalled the game and it works fine now.

I think with the right mapper making the right maps, this mod could be just as good looking as F-zero on the GC.

(this is a very powerful engine, afterall.)

Im sure the game will allow such modifications.
If nothing else, (besides the mentioned motion blur), at least there could be FOV warps for speed bursts, or something.

The crafts controls do get some getting used to, as they require abit of timing in executing turns and stuffs, you have to decelerate during turns if not you would get thrown to the walls of the curves. Well, its high speed racing anyway hehe. Thanks for the encouraging words though! :)

Phantom Dreams and Plumb_Drumb,
Hopefully there would be more people interested in mapping after the next release, we would be releasing another 3 more maps which are easier to race, with wider tracks. I personally is very new to mapping, and never ever thought i would ever do any mapping, so hope you can pardon the not so glorious tracks :) my main reason is basically to implement all the features inside, with as many different tracks as i could possibly do. It wouldn't be too much fun racing on just one very beautiful track i guess. Juz trying my best. Regarding FOV changes, we have that in mind, but it seems like we can't do FOV changes on the fly or something. Zerobit has got more details on it, but thats why FOV change was not in Anomaly :P

do hope to see you with a new track for Anomaly! :D It would be fun to race in more maps. Hopefully i would have the time to do a mapping tutorial for Anomaly, but in the meantime you could disassemble the map to examine it. There would be some slight changes and addition to mapping, but nothing too drastic. More details would be revealed at a later date :)

I think you should keep looking into it.
I remember FOV changes in the original UT.... like in DM-Pressure, when you were caught in the pressure chamber and someone closed the door on you, your vision would stretch out until you popped.
I also remember it happening when falling to your death in certain materials.

FOV changes is possible, currently the sniper / lightning gun is playing with the FOV already, but for heat wave effect i dont think its possible without access to the rendering code. That effect requires post render effect with per-pixel access to the frame buffer, or a pixel shader. Thanks for your suggestions . . . .

How did AngelMapper do her magnifying glass? That distorts what is rendered, or did she just use a rapidly updating environment map?

Guys, you may want to see this message i came across while opening up a gametypes menu in regular ut2004.

Warning: Gametype Anomaly.AnomalyGame found but it has no maps
Warning: Failed to load 'AnoInterface': Can't find file for package 'AnoInterface'

nikoS : which angel mapper's map is it ?

Glassboy : It doesnt suppose to appear in the GameType menu of UT2004 because its using the UT2004 mod support folder structure, its supposed to run from direct Anomaly Shortcut from the Installation package, or via Community mod menu in General UT2004. Thanks for reminding, i'll make sure to fix this in the next version.

Hiya guys,

The Anomaly Racing Mod (thats us hehe ) has now got a new Website, no more ads pop-ups and stuffs! Though theres still changes to be made and more stuffs to be added, but then, the forum is working, so no point wasting it hehe

New Info and screenshots on new maps in the forum. Do drop by and have a look!
