Ouch, Huge problem with two conflicting versions of VTDM.u is no good!

Im not sure who had thiers out first but I think the other one was!

You also might want to look at VSOveride package and AllowVehicles package which were released a couple months ago!
Both of those allow you to create Team vehicle DM levels but only a few beta maps were released using those packages!

***But those packages are now obsolete because of the latest and greatest DM Vehicles and Team Vehicles mutator called " Vehicle DM Mappers Package" built by ASH!***

This will allow you to create DM maps with vehicles and also fixes the AI so bots will use the vehicles in a normal DM game. Plus the DM map you make using this will work in DM or TDM and vehicles and AI work in both.

But yeah, please fix the conflict with the other VDM mod mentioned above. It'd be nice to have both installed rather then one or the other.

Well if i could get a link that works for this other MOD, I will look at it. But can't seem to find a valid download link, all the ones I have tried are dead??????

Yeah, I checked this one out, it adds mutators to the gameplay and uses ONS maps that don't have TEAM playerstarts.

My VTDM has team player support and uses custom map type.

The other mod is the one MasterBlaster73 posted a link to, you seem to only be able to install one at a time.

I been following vehicle DM now since the game came out and even made 3 very beta very crude VDM tester maps a couple months ago but gave up on it because the AI would not work in a normal DM gametype.

I was lucky enough to partner up with ASH after he had built a couple AI enhancement mutators for VCTF ect to help give him some ideas on building a fix mutator for the AI in the regular DM/ VDM game. Which btw also allows the vehicles in the build ect.

I see your mod/mute is exclusively Team so AI allready works and allways has but the problem originally was getting the vehicles into the DM game. The VSOveride was the first crude mutator to get vehicles to stick in a xgame.xDeathmatch and then came the AllowVehicles and then the VSO was made into a mylevel package and put in a cube map for mappers to use in building
ect. But the AI was still a problem in normal DM.

All that happened and died over a month ago and now a couple new mods have surfaced so if your smart I would try to take all that and look at it then develop names for your packages or add code if you think you need it from the other packages! And I would stay clear of the more common package names like VTDM or VDM ect ect and try to use a name that is something your pretty sure is not being used allready.

But I seriously think the most advanced and most useful code lies in the " Vehicle DM Mappers Package" made by ASH and for a VDM mapper this package is what you need to make the DM or TDM with vehicles and also AI working in both.

Now you dont really even need to build a new gametype to make vehicle DM or vehicleTDM maps now but I am not sure how the ASVehiclefactory spacefighter HUD tracking and AI fits into the whole picture so that part might be exclusive to your mod!

If I may advertise, I have a solution for getting vehicles and other stuff in to any map, without editing or re-distributing the map file...

Vehicles in the DM was the original problem but after that the AI in a normal DM game blah blah blah I thought I said all this allready in my post before?

Anyway your Mod is good and has its own gametype to keep it exclusive/seperate from the cludder! That is a good solution and like I said before I would look at the stuff people posted and then rename your packages. If you need code then just contact those people then incorperate it and rename the packages and re post it! :)

If its the same as the one above then you might want to consider not making it so easily available to people because it is allready in conflict with another mute/mod package and I hope one or the other mute builders decides to rename thier packages and put out an updated version or both will have problems! ;)

I will point out, that my VTDM doesn't require a MUTATOR like most others. I am attempting to add correct coding into one simple package.

I just think using a Mutator can be frustrating, especially when you have to keep removing and adding them.

But to fix the confusion, i will change the name of my .U file, which means chaning the maps I laready have out .:sour: .

This won't fix the major problem as there will still be a hugh conflict when people start making maps with the VTDM acronym, as all the VTDM mods will use this, and the maps will not run with so many VTDM mods out. I think Epic should have a competition for the best VTDM and VDM and release in a patch as being offical to fix up all this confusion.

My point is why are you continuing to advertize this version if your going to change it?

The more people you allow to get this version the more chance there will be for version conflicts later.

Im not knocking your mod im just saying that there is a system package that allready exists from another mod/mute with the same name as your package and I dont think the maker of that system file is going to change his so.

You are better off to get this version off the web as soon as you can to avoid problems! If you keep posting links to this version that you are going to change then it makes no sense.

I like your MOD and I am only telling you this so you can make the adjustments and repost a new version that you know for sure will not conflict with other stuff that is allready made.

Since there has been some conflict with other VTDM mods, I have had to change the name of the .U file, so please don't release any maps for my MOD, VTDM seems to have many different type of MODS for it. I will give my new version a complete different Accronym so it doesn't conflict with other VTDM, VDM, VDOM, etc MODS.

I will also have a website up soon called ProjectUT www.projectut.com - keep an eye out for it.

I can see your point, and I was unaware of so many version of VTDM out, so I guess it was just unlucky my version conflicts with others. But it soon won't, beside this is only a Beta anyway, most players should remove it when I release a final version.

It's odd that VDM, VTDM, VDOM and VCTF weren't included in the game. It's a few more maps to make and package, sure. But it's also a few more game types.

The only problem was your system .u package which I assume is the new gametype .u package you made!

Your new gametype VTDM as far as I know has not been made but a mutator (not gametype) was made that has a similarly named system file so thats the only trouble!

All you got to do is choose a new name for your system .u package other than VTDM.u and if that means you have to change the gametype name too then its no big problem other than renaming and re compiling packages and resaving and re releasing.

I did not look at the gametype you made closely but I would think it is xGame.xVehicleTeamDeathMatch??

If you can get away with just changing the .u file name and keeping the gametype then that is ok but if not you could rename the gametype to XVTDM or XVTDM.u and leave the gametype to xGame.xVehicleDeathMatch.

The other thing was the option to keep your new gametype exclusive but also make the VDM or better XVDM.u gametype for your mod that way you have team and also regular DM as the choices.

But the AI for regular DM does not work unless you code it into your gametype or use an additional external mutator. Now both of those things have been made by ASH and you can get them at http://www.ut2003hq.com/ to look at and use if needed. 1 is called, Vehicle_DM_AI_Mutator_v1_0.zip this is the external mutator that people can use to activate bot AI in a normal (non team) DM gametype. Also there is VehicleDM_Mappers_Package.zip and this is a tool that mappers can use to build a DM map that will allow vehicles and incorperate AI for the normal DM gametype.

Yes I have seen the ASH mutator, it's simple, and I have already have a similar code that works with VDOM, and even added the bots exiting the vehicle to defend DOM points on foot.

Like I said, i have changed the .U file name to something more Epic like, and gametype names may change, don't know yet.

My goal is to make a Vehicle match for each gametype, include Mutant, Invasion, etc in one package simple. So I will continue to work on my project. :up:
