Shattered Oasis is nearing their next release and it is due out sometime before Sunday night :P . Here are a list of changes for the upcoming release:

- Modified weapon code to rectify GPF problems
- Rewrote entire bot code
- Moved credits to a button
- 2k4 bot support re-added to support vehicles
- Added SandFire Detonation map
- Sandcow can be run over now
- Increased gib size of sandcows
- Fixed bots spawning as same player
- Fixed anim issue with AR
- Tweaked vehicle speeds
- Added tracers to weapon fire
- Added napalm grenade
- Adjusted all vehicle's collision
- Adding 2 Team Arena maps Destitute & Sublevel
- Texture update on the scatterer
- Eastereggs added to new map
- Fixed destroyed gyrocopter mesh not showing now works
- 2 or 3 handfuls of minor bugs eliminated
- A multitude of improvements made
- Plus other

That's right folks, this release features fully functional bot support and I can assure you, it's beastly. The new version will be in two versions: a patch version and the full mod and will only be compatible with the 3236 patch of UT2K4.

When we did it we didn't realize everyone was going to like it so much

I love the concept and models, but i found it a shame that it didn't have bot support originaly, now that it does, it's gonna be ace!
On a side note, I had a thought, the first time i played it, why not make the Gyrocopters blades knock-of-able? So that the more blades that get taken off, the harder it is to stear and worse acceleration rate?
Anyway, Nice work on the Mod so far!
Can't wait for this release!

I must say Byte's done an awesome job with this build.

Quite fun in my biased opinion :P

= voices are awfully soft ... almost impossible to hear above the regular noises
Try setting "TransientSoundVolume"-property for these voicepacks a little higher.

= aiming with the gyrocopter is impossible since you can't see where you're shooting at

= even novice bots use the assault-rifle a lot better than even humans could (they don't seem to suffer from recoil)

= grenades are difficult to throw ... it seems you really need to hold the button forever before you can actually throw the grenade.
This was in instant-action, so there was no lag or any similar Internet-/lan-related problems ...

Yep the voices are a bit soft I'll show byte that info about the voice packs. I'm not sure what he's tried to make them more audible to this point, I do know he tried though.

Aiming with the Gyro copter is a learning curve thing once you've got the knack of it, it's quite entertaining :P The one with the rocket type missles is my favorite:D as well it adds a bit of balance to them.

Your saying the bots are a little too good?

The grenade delay was put in to stop an annoying bug.

That grenade-delay makes the grenades useless as a quick suprise weapon.

I'd have to agree with you

once we have that issue sorted it'll be fixed in an upcoming patch.

A few more issues :
= in the community-menu it says it's version 2.17a and not 2.20

= standard UT2k4-gametypes as well as additional like Greed gametypes are available.
I thought this was a TC with teamarena & detonation ?

I get the same thing as JaFO....

I'm running it via the community tab, then activating it.

I can still access my 'Carball' mod even with just SO activated, and it shows up as 2.17a, also the mouse menu speed bug is still there - it keeps defaulting back to 1.00

I will look into Gametype showing issues - You can try editing the ShatteredOasis.ini and removing the ..\System\*.ucl Cache line. This was added last minute to line up with UDN information that had been posted and I think it is causing 2 issues - Gametypes and Weapons showing in priority list - I just need to test a bit to verify.

Odd though, because I have never had UT2k4 Gametypes show up, no matter how I ran it - though Community running versus shortcut running should be no different, but we all love Epic *cough*

UT2k4ModInfo Version number was an oversight on my part, but no biggy... I will bring it current with next small patch.

As for the gyro, it isn't supposed to be aimable actually, but due to a nice bug, I have to leave it like it is for now. If I make it the way I want (Nose direction is where it fires, etc), then it fires backwards even though everything is properly boned obviously

Grenade wise.. ugh lol.. I have hated the grenades from their first conception back when whoever put them in (before my time). It was just recently that we got them even working decently and halfway okay with animations and such. If you got some code that will work well with custom animations (first person view), then I'd be down to take a look :) I'm sure, if needed, we could swap some work from our team (art, models, etc)...

I will see about making bots have a bit more aiming error than previously. I used your botmanager jafo to spice them up a bit, so I BLAME YOU! :p but seriously, ill put it on my list.

There are a few other minor appearance things I am going to patch out in the next week, so probably come after that, but we'll see.

this mod rocks:up: the only thing i dont get is why most of the vehicles dont have crosshairs for the guns:bulb:

The problem isn't their aiming ... it's the fact that they can spray an entire magazine with the same accuracy.
It makes the weapon a minigun in their hands.
And that's mere *novice* bots. :(
I can only do 3-round bursts with decent accuracy after that I need to stop shooting.

Same seems to apply to pretty much any gun except the shotgun, which makes it the only weapon I can use without any problems.

And since you've used my Botmanager ... I'll see if I can add some extra support for your mod. :D ;)

It took about 8 prototypes to get a grenade system that worked properly so i can understand your pain. Which custom anims would they have to support?

Well we do nothing really custom currently - That is on the Third person side, though I would imagine if it was doable quickly or easily then our guys would get the animations done.

Most everything else is just normal First person animations for Pre-Fire, Firing, etc.. The only really custom addition is firing when Empty which shows the guy giving the Finger (which would be cool if it was seen by everybody else, but not a big priority)
