Name: Element & Raffi_B Map Packs
Version: N/A
Compatibility: UT2004
Description: Beyond Unreal's (www.beyondunreal.com) very own Raffi_B has updated his previously released Element and Raffi_B map packs for use with UT2004. The maps were ported directly, with a few changes and fixes of course. This pack contains eight high-quality Capture-the-Flag maps, with a major emphasis on gameplay, instead of on visual appeal.

These are some pretty good, if small, maps. I'll admit I deleted 2 of them, but the others offered some relative intensity.

So I have to dl both?
The element pack wasn't half as good IMO. :/

No its only one download, for some reason they said map packs. just download the file and you'll have the maps from Raffi_B and Element.

That's kinda what I meant.

All the maps are great except CTF-Iron which is compleatly ****ed over. The original for 2003 worked fine, but in this version not only can you continually detonate the map killing EVERYONE, but just touching that button once puts the announcer into skip mode. It continualy repeats "Red flag was returned. Blue flag was returned." That occurs when no one even has a flag in hand. Then while it is doing this you can no longer move the flags from their podium.

All of the maps feel very UT '99-ish. Not my favorite, but not bad. Graphics are low by today's standards, but gameplay is good. Nice layouts.

I think they were portted directly from ut '99, they are probably from ut 2003. i don't know which though.

Nope, I made them all original for UT2003. Then I just updated them for UT2004.
As for CTF-Iron, I was really trying to make a unique and fun map with a neat little gimmick. When testing the map I didn't come across that bug, so I can't tell you what's causing it. I think I should remove the button from the map, though, if it's causing all of these problems.
Also, my intention was solely to provide good gameplay. I could care less about graphics, but if I had made them with no detail, nobody would download them :)
BTW, Element is the name of the Pack, not the author. If you look at the map names, they are all named after elements of the periodic table... Radium, Iron, Cobalt, Carbon.
One more thing: you can check out some screenshots of the Raffi_B pack here (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=113114).

CTF-E-Carbon - from Element mappack; can’t miss flag rooms, nice lights in walls, steam, chosen music, torches, fairly linear gameplay but nice lowG and z-axis.
CTF-E-Cobalt - from Element mappack; metallic forts with skybox and underground paths, steam, wild shadows, fans, long corridors, interesting powerup locations, good bots.
CTF-E-Iron - from Element mappack; wild back-to-back CTF with upper routes as well, pipes, fans, good shadows, turbines, intense gameplay with decent bots.
CTF-E-Radium - from Element mappack; crazy lights everywhere, spotlights, wall lights, torches, fitting music, many paths, my bots good, other bots bad.
For now, I'm only commenting on the Element Map Pack, but will be adding the Raffi_B map pack comments at a later date. In the meantime, here are some working links to all eight maps as a combined zip file:
