You might want to pull this, so you can rename it, quick. There's already a map out by the name of DM-Chimera, and this could definately cause mismatch issues.
Go here, then to Levels -> UT2003 -> DM-Chimera. (http://www.warbeast.de/)

Yes, it looks to be a very nice map, hellfire. In my post about the name, I totally neglected to express my opinion of the map, and judging by the screenshots, it looks to be well executed in theme. I'll try to check it out soon.. :)

Thanks for the heads up Virax, I shouldn't have missed that. Now I just have to come up with an original name...
Thanks pointless, although the original Chimera looks cooler hehehe.
Any name ideas? I'm thinking here. I prefer abstract over things like 'deathbeach' or what not.

It's still a map for UT2003 made by Warbeast, he need to port this map for UT2004

You can play any UT2003 map in UT2004 I believe.

Incalescence is good. What's it mean? :)

Growing hotter. Things are heating up. I thought it fit. It's actually a better name then the first one, though it reminds me too much of 'Evanescence' which is a big con.

DX did you get around to playing it? Any thoughts?

Btw, I'll save you the hassle of emailing me about it, and just post the news on PU now. ;)

looks like the island in James Bond - The man with the golden gun.
make it more like that. Scaramanga totaly rocks
i found these just off the cuff.
talk sound files from the film
http://www.moviesounds.com/goldgun.html
some music here.
http://www.z.lanbib.se/~thomas/s-09.htm
a sound pack, some music and a little moddeling and you would have a great theme map.
that would make it special, instead of just a terrain map like hundreds of other terrain maps.

Well I wasn't going for a James Bond theme and I don't plan to. :)

I really like the rural feel of it, and 1on1 rubs me the right way, but the framerates outside are awful. I dropped down to 40 in several areas.

Since when is a frame rate of 40 awful? But anyway, it's due to the wavy water, which I had to already reduce in quality for people in lower end machines to handle it. Large fluidsurfaceinfo's really bog down a lower end machine for some reason, even though on a high end machine it will be the last thing that bogs down the machine it seems. The only way I could improve the frame rate outside would be to remove waves all together, and I didn't feel that was worth it for the slight speed boost.

Looks nice hellfirexq, just replace those ugly ass trees. :)

I thought the trees suited the purpose well. I would have made my own, but my static mesh skills still aren't sharp enough to improve on those existing trees.

thanks
Gameplay and concept are cool, but it looks a bit... bland. The water's like glass, there's rather hard lines between sand-grass and grass-rock, there's no variety in textures and it generally low on detail (plants, rocks, whatever).

Yeah I hear ya. I wanted to go with a simple look, that was more my intention, just to make it look natural. I didn't even want the ruin pathway added but I realized I needed to make some more interesting combat situations by adding some z-axis combat. The water's detail was lowered because it affected lower end machines performance quite greatly.

Gameplay and so on is nice, but you could have given more detail for the players with a bigger pc :)

Nice map. The outdoor areas are excellent, I love the look of the grassy hills and the paths... the sand looks great too, and I like how you can fall into the water and swim back to the beach. Keeper

Hahahah yeah, I could have, actually I did have more detail with the water before release, but after people were telling me CTF-Volatile][ ran slower on lower end machines, I had to cut the wave detail. I'm sad, but now everyone can enjoy it. I can't please everybody :)

wide-open terrain with caves, good AVA and theme, decent gameplay with tough bots; I like the grass, rocks, trees (they’re fine), but the water and skybox need work.
