Name: CTF-Longest
Version: Final
Compatibility: Unreal 2004

Description:
A remake of the classic Halo Level, Longest turns CTF into an all out war. No more half an hour games only to win by 1 point in overtime, Longest challenges players in a high scoring fast paced CTF brawl. Works well with bots too!

Comments:
Though it may not be 100% accurate (by not having custom textures), it's very fun too play, and a lot of time was spent on trying to make it accurate. There aren't many small CTF levels where the challenge is to reach the score limit, not get a point before the time runs out, and so this map is ideal for shorter play. Feedback is welcome on what you think of it. Hopefully I'll see it on a server. A mirror would be appreciated too. (can't get fasterfiles.com to work :( )

Looking forward to trying this out, but please consider changing that wall texture, or at least scaling it out. It's quite busy and hard on the eyes as is.

the textures not the best but tis the closest we could really find to the odd one of halo. Could size it down but i dont really notice it in the game really anyway, and i don't know if it'll be worth re-releasing it just for that. Tis meant to be final after all. I'll see what other feedback i get and if there's a lot of stuff wrong i guess i'll have to change it. should be final aslong as there are no major issues. thanks for the input

The important thing everyone (well not everyone but it sounds more dramatic if I say everyone) forgets about remakes of maps from a different engine is that they are almost always BOUND TO LOOK WORSE THAN THEY COULD IN UNREAL, therefore it is the job of the converter, whether the map was from UT99, Quake 3, Halo or Doom2, always, ALWAYS improve it.

They're bound to have gotten the flow right the first time round, but it's important to remember that the flow is right for that game, and maybe not perfect for UT2K4. Then there's the detail. Halo, when it was ported from XBox was barely changed, and thus we had the frequent loading screens, etc. That was their mistake and is a lot like the mistake you've made. Halo only ever looked pretty outside and therefore it is the duty of the converter to make any indoor part of their Halo converts far better looking, thus you get a remake and not a convert, it will be more aesthetically pleasing and you will get higher ratings for it if you were to submit it for review.

Please don't take this as flaming or trolling, a lot of people make your mistake and I just wanted to make sure people didn't do it again. If you do or do not change this map (the choice is up to you) at least you know my opinions of it.

I have no problem with "faithful" remakes. God knows I've DL'd every version of Hall of Giants that's come out. So the geometry doesn't really bother me, I like the idea of two paths you can jump between rather quickly, especially since onslaught has made many people used to huge maps now.

The textures on the other hand can be tweaked since they'll never be goo recreations. I don't know about scaling, but alignment is what I think would make it look better. Especially around the cut edges, maybe something different could've been used for that small section.

Well.....it's only a remake, I'd spend a lot longer on my own map. Only took I night to make, i was just showing my mate how to make 1 and thought longest would be an easy 1 to make, and it was fun to play so i thought i'd post it. its had around 250 downloads which is surprising. Not that special. My mate was in charge of texturing anyway so hurl the abuse his way. i thought the wall/floor texture (thank you duffman) needed scaling to look better but he said it looks more like halo that way. Anyway its the play that counts on a small fast map like this so i think its quite good for that. thanks for all your comments though. i'd agree with all of em
