TeamRadar 4.0 Final

Changes since version 3.0
v3.0:
-added icons to menu
-added mouseover info to icons
-fixed bug where it would spam errors to the log if you loaded it in a different gametype
-Added the ability for vehicle programmers to add new vehicle icons to the mutator
v3.1:
-Added two console commands (trFullMap and trConfigMenu)
-Reduced bandwidth usage and increased client speed by using replication infos and reducing calls to arrays.
-Removed some bugs involving the map tab.

Sweet :D This should have been in the game from the start! Should help cordinate efforts much more knowing which node players are working on.
Plus I hope I don't have to hear that 9 year old say:
"Going to node 2!""Going to node 2!""Going to node 2!" over and over again :rolleyes:

I actually tried to set it initially, but I couldn't find it anywhere. It isn't in the edit post or new thread page for me for some reason, while it still is on the Beta thread. It's really quite confusing :-/

Hummm, I'm using version 3.1.1 cuz my dedicated server is patched to 3204. When I join the game the empty vehicles show very well, but not all bots/players are shown on the map. I tried 3.2 but get the same thing. I've deleted all my cache, removed every instance of it in my UT2004 folder, but still online it doesn't work like it should. If I host an instant action game it works fine. Any thoughts or words of advice?

I thought I had taken care of that, but I have changed some code. I'll look into it, see if I broke something.

the online version does a couple weird things
empty vehicles dissappear from the little map
bots sometimes dont show up
etc
also, could you make it so youre the only green thing on the map?
easier to spot yourself at a glance...

Empty vehicles are going to disappear, there isn't much I can really do about that without increasing net server bandwidth even more and I'm adverse to that right now. I'm looking into the bots/players not showing up thing, and I'm going to change the default colors.

Sorry about the lack of updates at all recently, I got a job recently and haven't had much time for programming. That being said, the new version should be ready somewhat soon and moves the radar into any gametype. I want to see if I can coerce it to work with some mods and then work on writing some external mutators to load them, but I'm not really making any promises along those lines. :P

that would be great, but give it an option in it to turn it off for other gametypes maybe?
also, make sure it only shows your own team... theres already one that shows both teams

Updated to 4.0.
The grid scaling ain't perfect, but I haven't been able to fix it.

I really like this mutator, but is there any way to get rid of the shield icons that are on the nodes in the latest release? It makes it difficult to see the status of the nodes.

Fixed that. That's what I get for spending so much time dicking around with DrawTile and not checking ONS :(

Thanks... The shields are gone. However, I noticed another problem. I've changed the colors for the red and blue team icons to be yellow. When the map changes, the colors go back to the default (red and blue). Going into the config screen still shows that I have selected the yellow color, but the icons are drawn in the default color.

Well, it seems to be working now. Maybe it took a restart of UT2004 in order to make the color changes stick.

Best I could do would be waypoints that people in internet games could see. I don't have a whole lot of time at the moment either, unfortunately. :-/

To recreate:
1. Install or reinstall TeamRadar (I used the umod). This sets the colors to the defaults.
2. Start UT2004.
3. Start Onslaught Instant Action game (any map)
4. Change colors of TeamRadar icons. Note colors have changed on mini-map
5. Change map. Colors on mini-map will be back to the default.
If you then customize the colors and quit UT2004, when you restart it you will keep your customized colors.

Any chance of getting Clone Bandits support? (http://www.demiurgestudios.com/CloneBandits/)
Clone Bandits has a mini-map almost identical to Onslaught's. Team Radar just uses the black and white grid to indicate where teammates are, overlaying the Clone Bandits mini-map.
I don't know how similar the underlying code would be to Onslaught, and I understand if you only want to support the default gametypes.
(Might be nice if the you could check if the gametype already has a mini-map, and use that if available. Otherwise, fallback to the grid.)

You'll still have to hear that 9 year old, but at least now you'll be able to see he's headed for locked node 3 in the Goliath. :D

Yeah I was actually looking at adding support when I saw CB's minimap. I'll whip up something for it in the next few days.

I don't have a whole lot of time at the moment either, unfortunately. :-/I don't really need complex orders, I just want to point and click at some bot in the map, and then have a menu of orders (attack, defend, cover me, search and destroy, etc). It's even better if it could be done with the match paused.
Maybe this proposal would be out of the scope of your project, but I'll leave the suggestion provided you think it's possible.

That would be great.
One more thing... The normal UT map that appears when you press ESC shows the vehicles, but the same map that shows up when you die does not. It would be useful to see the vehicles when you die so you can choose the respawn point.
I know... I ask for a lot...

Edit: As I know that you want to look at the technical drawing stuff on the Radar map, you should also try this one (http://tarantola.alexandre.free.fr/Crusha/AssONSHUDv104%20from%20redirect.zip) (not compatible with ONSplus, in case you use ONSplus offline).
It was made by the A.S.S. clan and the archive is made from elements I extracted from a redirect because I could not find any working download. I think it is the most recent version but it might be worth asking on their forums in case you want to know more:
