I had too many problems with the patch*, so I've ditched it for the time being. I'm just wondering what the ratio is now of patched to unpatched clients.

*I could list them, but this is Encourage Use of the Search Engine Month.

Where's the "Yes! It's a pain in the rump!" option? :p

Nah, it's not too bad for me since I clean my cache regularly anyway (I downloaded it, dammit, I'm gonna keep it!) and I've been playing UT games long enough to know how to get them to do what I want when they're being stubborn. Price of progress I s'pose.

The main reason the patch is a drag, really, is trying to explain to all the new guys what to do when it starts acting the fool... that and seeing people for whom nothing seems to help.

Here's hoping the next patch knows how to act in public...

The node is built the charge begins
But onslaught overtime means blue wins (bug :D)
The sting of shock rifles becomes quick death
As the levithian becomes a trap of death (:p)

hmm, while it does have to do with the russian front, "The Trooper" is likley based on WWI, it may however be based on the invasion of poland at the start of WWII.

So you are not wicked.

Probably is the poland one eh? with the word comrade used. oh well, best not be overanalytical.

Patched, and immediately after DM-CrookedForest stopped working.

Well, I needn't explain to you which is more important between a patch and Crooked Forest. :D

Unpatched. The patch makes my FPS take a nosedive.

I'm a patch whore. Things are always better after a patch than before, for me. I don't believe in all that "teh patch is broken" crybaby bull$hit.

[i]I don't believe in all that "teh patch is broken" crybaby bull$hit. [/B]

Yeah, we make it all up, just to piss you off.... :haha:

Patch made the game stutter and freeze, particularly online.

I suspected the patch may have made the game more sensitive to my (fairly moderate) overclocking, despite no other games being affected by said overclocking (I'm strict about temperatures and test every change for stability mercilessly)

So I set my Athlon back to 2500+ and the 5900XT to stock speeds and tried again. Still the same.

Tried reinstalling UT and the patch. Still the same.

Tried removing Nvidia drivers and installing a later set (released after UT2004) and reinstalling DirectX. Still the same.

Tried removing my firewall and opening ports on my router. Still the same.

Ran several tests and benchmarks in Sisoft Sandra to test for instabilities, bad hardware configurations. No problems found.

Tried changing the sound setting, reducing netspeed, reducing graphics settings, praying, chanting ancient mystic mantras, smashing my head against the wall....guess what?
Still the ****ing same!!

But as EternalNoob so eloquently pointed out, I'm making it all up.

Herb

I'm not using the patch as right now for me, everything works nice and the patch doesn't give me much benefits, the only thing I'd like is autodemorec but I'll survive (especially as it's apparently still broken)
