i'm gonna download it and try it.
did you add spotlights to your lighting actors?
did you change the teleporter emitters?
did you add a little mroe vegetation?
and last but not least did you use a water fluid sheet and not a normal BSP sheet?
thos were the main things, this is on my a.s.a.p download list.
i like this map a lot, i like the theme, i like the flow as well but the player quantity needed changing from the beta, have you done that as this map is quite large and could have done with a few more players at default.

- i changed the orange lights in the curved passages with spot lights, but i also add some normal lights to give ambient illumination
- i didn't change the teleporter emitters:p i personally like this one
and in the last days what i did mostly was to improve the gameplay, to tune the pickup positions
- yeah i add a little more foliage, but not too much, cuz i do not want to drop performance too much:P
- i did not use any fluid, the reason is still for performance! i made a test in my map, with a fluid in the main hall, the fluid itself costed about 2 ms(even when i set physics=low), if you type stat game, you can check that, that means fps drops about 5fps, that is too much for me.
5fps= thousands staticmesh polygons!!!
if the pool was not in the main hall, but in a small room with few detail, i can use fluid:p
- yeah i increase the player quantity, now it is 2-8, but imo the best quantity is 2on2:p
and, thanks you all:up:
i begin hard working on another map

Getting a slight prob with textures, the beta3 version never had this. Its showing because of my card... G4 MX440, but could you please use a fallback (if I'm right in assuming this).

Nice map other then that though.

06-03-2004, 09:23 PM
that looks like the mx440's problem
maybe you have to use 16bit color
very sorry for the bug
i used a glossy shader from official textures, on my ti4200, the texture looks ok
hi GOGETA_NL and Super_Moose, i remember you at least post affirmation informations, maybe not too much useful, but let me know whether what i doing is right, so i need to thank u;)

xblue_cn... You need to set fallback textures for your shaders. Just good practice to do so.
That's what he is seeing. His card can't handle the shader but since there is no fallback texture in the shader properties, he gets the default bubble texture.

orange lights, are they on the ceiling? spotligths are used for lights on the ceilings and also do shadows as well.
n/p about the teleporter emitters, they looked cool but they looked more like a custom pickup than a teleporter.
cool aobut the foliage, you just have to get the right amount i think a little more grass was needed.
having a pool in the main hall should have cost 5fps, you could have used cull distance on the pool as well, the fluid surface looks much better than a bsp sheet.
nice map through, i like it a lot but i'ii still be bumping up the player amount
nice map you damn quake 3 player....lol:haha:

hmm. I wouldn't really call this a remake, even though he says it's based on Deck16. I think it's very loosely based on Deck16 and the feeling of it is pretty unique.
Feels very different. I think it's really great.

No problem. I just wanted to make sure you tried it. Because I thought you might feel differently after seeing the different flow, etc.
I took no offense. It's not my map. Just wanted to cover the bases.
I just really think it's a great map imo.

I am not sure how many people need a new version with the fall back shader
i just worry this will make some confusion to the public if i release a new one just as another final release:P
so if you do wanna it, i can make it for you, but i am not tend to release it to the public
what do u think about it?
and to others, thanks your support:up:
for me, this my last remake for any ut map, i still have 2 maps need to be finished, unfortunately, they r both remake, :sour:
they r q3dm17 and q3ztn3t1, i hope these 2 will be my last attempt of remake, i do feel sick of remake, but cuz i began these maps early last year, and i do wanna make every my work good enough, and i promised my friend to make ztn3t1 for him, so i have to go on~~~~~

I believe that this is eventually a remake or reboot of UT99's favorite, Deck16. My thoughts exactly that this is a spring scenario mixed with industrial themes, more microscopic than the tech from the original. And also, it has no slimes, no enhanced scaling, and some of the following different things I remembered: weapon/item placements, audio track, spots, routes and z-axis. In addition of birds chirping sounds, more corridors, pipes, steams, good atmosphere, details, trims, skybox, one fan, and only one jump pad. The gameplay is more better than the original and the bots are rarely decent. Good thing that there is no Jump Boots mutator and the Redeemer placement seems moved to the top of the middle area on behalf.

a little better than the original (I like the flow, layout changes, lighting, better gameplay and little extra green), but I never was and never will be a fan of deck maps. This is one of the better UT2004 upgrades of this map though.
Obviously, all the working links have been taken care of above.:)
