Originally I had my UT2004 working like a charm - wonderful game. Then, I decided to reformat one of my drives so I moved the UT2k4 directory to my C:. I later moved it back and it didn't work.

At the end of the day I reintsalled games, drivers, and you name it and I couldn't get it to work.

So, I ended up just downloading XP Service Pack 1, and lo and behold, it worked! I never thought it would work, just because it had worked before I ever had SP1.

Install XP SP1!

Now Ive never had a problem with UT2004 but Ive had an idea about why ut2004 may never work properly once uninstalling it then reinstalling after having a problem.

Perhaps it has something to do with leaving parts of it in the registry. If part of the problem is related to the registry, and it does not remove itself correctly, when re-installing it wouldn't the problem still occur?

Just an idea.

Ye moving it around after installing it would require a reinstall.

Youre right, and I did reinstall it. That is when it stopped working - after the reinstall. This was perplexing - I had tried everything - It worked fine before XP Service Pack one, but after installing service pack one, it worked again (the new reinstalls did).
