How come in the Intro movies of UT2003 and UT2004 the characters are much nicer looking than the In game versions?
is the intro pre rendered or did they just tone down the models in game because everything moves so fast in game you wont notice the detail anyway?

Thanks,

In 2K3, I believe there were higher poly character models for Brock, Lauren and Malcolm that they used in the cutscenes.

For 2K4, I have no clue, but those animations don't look like the ones we see every day while playing. I'd bet they are custom characters or at least custom animations for the characters in the game.

I'm pretty sure that they use Matinee to script the scenes.

But those are all in game and being rendered by the game engine not a video or anything right?

Yes, it's all rendered in real-time by the engine, the same as when you're playing.
