Here are quite a few ideas i think would be great for UT2K4

Game changes –
Day to night and night to day time and atmosphere. I don’t know if this is possible but I think It would be kinda cool if the time of day changed while you were playing. This also allows for new strategies and elements to the game experience.

Paratroopers – Kinda like the Chute mod already created the players can have a parachute that opens when they jump from extreme heights. This allows from paratrooper drop missions with the drop ship.

Mechanics Quarter. A bay or area you can take your vehicle and have it re-armed with seleceted ordinance or weapons. Say you don’t like the gun on the scorpion, go to the mechanics bay and trade it in for a rocket launcher on top of the scorpion instead of the link thing. Say you want to upgrade your tank to shoot napalm shells instead of slugs just go to the mechanics bay and make the desired changes. The mechanics bay can also be used to make upgrades to vehicles by using FRAG CREDITS and OBJECTIVE CREDITS. The more frags you get the more upgrades you can make. Taking over and destroying a node can give you credits as well that you can use for upgrade purposes. Upgrades can be things like Vehicle speed, armor, weight, suspension, control, etc etc

Repair Bays: Tired of trying to find that damn link gun when you’re getting shot at to fix your busted ass vehicle. Just retreat back to base and park your busted ass on a repair bay. Its faster than running back to a node or base to get a new vehicle that is probably not there or is still waiting to be spawned.

Shield pods – walk over a shield pod in your base or next to your power node and it will recharge your shields to 150. It a game like UT2K4 being fragged is expected and not at all a big deal. This helps you stay alive longer and keeps your streak going. Makes for better competition and more realistic style gameplay.

Adren Combos –
Repelling Mag shield – Whatever is shot at you just simply goes around you. As if you had a magnetic force around you reppeling everything shot at you.

Raiden – Electricity surrounds you and jumps out at those that come close to you and does about the same amount of damage as the lightening gun.

Kangaroo – you can jump as if you were in outer space but without the slow motion effect. You jump at regular speed and fall at regular speed without being hurt. You can jump great distances at great speed. Use double jump and go double the distance and speed.

Illusions – This adren combo gives you a set of 2 illusionary body doubles that are holograms. They stay somewhat close to you but run at their own speed and style. This is great for diverting enemy fire elsewhere.


VEHICLES:

JEEP “THE CLIFFHANGER”- lift kit and all the jeep can seat 4 people and is very fast, it can go over almost all terain and each person except the driver can shoot. Great for fast transoport and drive by shooting. Good for getting from node to node.

APC “THE BULL”- Carries up to 8 troops and can withstand a large amount of damage. 50.cal machine gun on top for close support. Great for pushing way into heavily guarded areas. Troops can follow behind and use it as a shield.

ROBOTIC BLADE (remote controlled) “THE GUTTER” - A circular swirling blade held up by a center fan. The blade is like that of a saw but the blades can extend out farther with the primary fire button. the secondary button makes the blade jump into the air just like the manta. This robotick blade is controlled remotely by a node that is set up in the base. Kinda like in the assault missions when you remotly control the turrets in some of the missions. This is good for slicing through mass troop movements and better yet it is hard to hit due to its low profile.

DROPSHIP “THE BELLY” – A large and robust dropship. Heavily armored and capable of transporting 10 troops or 1 scorpion and 5 troops. Its ideal for large movements when the ground is too slow or hectic. It is also capable of releasing paratroopers. The back hatch will open while in air and the troops can jump out and paratroop into combat. Its armed with a gatling gun turret on top that rotates 360 degrees. This will be the primary fire. The secondary fire is a shield similar to the riot gun that engulfs the whole drop ship and will shield against ANY type of attack. Energy for shield will run out in 8 seconds and needs aprox 10 seconds to fully recharge.

“DERBY” this is a medium sized vehicle armored to the teeth and faster than any vehicle in the game. Its main purpose is to destroy other vehicles by ramming them. Its has a push guard with razor wire and spikes in case it needs to dice up some jaywalker. It is easily capable of pushing a tank back and easilty cuts through the smaller vehicles. It has a harder time with the leviathan. Its great for when you have just had enough and are looking for some destruction derby.

STEALTH TANK “MIRAGE” this tank is a bit smaller than the goliath. It has less armor, and fire power. The upside is speed and stealth. This tank is in stealth mode until it fires or attacks then it will become visible. Primary fire is a set of 3 homing missiles. Secondary fire is a lock on mode like that of the AVRIL. It carries 2 people. The second person controls a 50 cal machine gun atop the turret.

ARIAL COMMAND CENTER “MOTHERSHIP” this is a very large Arial complex capable of repairing damages to up to 4 raptors simultaneously. It can also launch SPUDNIK attacks. SPUDNIKS are basketball sized orbs that hover over the battlefield and cause chaos on all thing enemy. It has 4 retractable blades and spins extremely fast. It is capable of attacking anything and everything. They can attack troops and vehicles. The attack vehicles by burrowing through the undercarriage or armor and destroying critical components rendering the vehicle useless. The SPUDNIKS A.K.A. the SWARM attack in clusters of about 15. Each SPUDNICK is extremely hard to hit as they are very quick and can move in many different directions. They are however very lightly armored and can be killed with the right weapons and techniques.

TOXIC TRUCK “SLIMER” this is a truck that looks like a fuel truck of sorts. It has green goo dripping from the top hatch. The green goo is a toxic waste material mixed with radio active waste. The drive of this truck is on a KAMIKAZE mission. Drive this into the enemy base and press the detonate button. The enemy base will be covered in giant globs of green goo that will slow down troops and render vehicles useless. The gobs of goo spontaneously burst into smaller ones which explode and cause acid damage. The base will remain contaminated for about 45-60 seconds. This is a devastating weapon and can cause large amounts of damage.

WEAPONS / ITEMS:

Gatling laser gun “PRISM” - this gun is like that of the shock rifle but in rapid fire mode.
Primary fire: shoots laser beams wildly at a target. Not very accurate
Secondary fire: slower in rate of fire than the primary fire but much more accurate

Flame Thrower “TOASTY” – Similar to the flame thrower from Unreal 2 the Awakening
Primary fire: a Flame tossed 25 feet in whichever direction it is pointed
Secondary fire: Launches the napalm canister and explodes on contact leaving a burning bon fire in its place

VOLS “Various Ordinance Launching System” – similar to the Grenade launching gun in Unreal 2 the awakening
Primary fire: Fires selected ordinance
Secondary fire: choose between 5 different assortments of ordinance. The first is a Canister of Incendiary Molten Lava. Looks like the Bio Rifle goo but redish orange instead. It burns through anything it touches, except the special material the canister it is held in is made of. The second is beacon that is launched and attaches to whatever it lands on. 5 seconds later the beacons sends a signal to outer space where an ion cannon blasts whatever the beacon was attached to. Third is a canister containing 3 Shredders. Golf Ball sized balls with razor claws that spin around. The Shredders swarm around and look for targets to attack. Shredders can attack vehicles and cause damage and immobilizing the smaller vehicles. The are a pesky annoyance to any troops. Fourth is a canister containing 5 health. Shoot it at any friendly players or at the ground and you can pick it up. Last is a FLARE gun. It shoots in the air illuminateing any dark areas and can be used to shoot troops as well causing them to burn alive with tremendous pain.

Shotgun Minigun “THE OUCH” – This a very dangerous weapon and can cause massive amounts of damage. The shotgun minigun is like the minigun but it shoots shotgun shells instead.
Primary Fire: rapid fire
Secondary Fire: All shells fired at once (6 barrels)

Drunken Missile Launcher “THE OOPS” – This is a rocket launcher the has a tendency to cause trouble. It shoots drunken missiles onto the battlefield and exploding with a flack shell ordinance. There is not telling where the missiles will go so be careful where you shoot.
Primary Fire: shoots 5 drunken missiles
Secondary Fire: Shoots 5 drunken delayed explosion missile grenades.

5th Element gun – I got this idea from the movie 5th element. This gun is a power assault rifle with magnetic shells.
Primary fire: fires regular automatic fire. But when the alt fire has shot the magnetic attractor all the bullets fired go to that location. No matter which direction you point the gun.
Secondary fire: fires a single large magnetic attractor. It only attracts a certain special material that the bullets are made of. This single magnetic attractor attaches to whatever it was fired at. The magnetic attractor disappears when you run out of ammo or fire another magnetic attractor at a different location.

Barbed Wire or obstructions – these are things that can be deployed to make it that much harder for the enemy to get around. Deploy a laser fence around a node or area of transition. Set road blocks and keep the enemy that much farther away from your nodes and base. Set up barb wire to slow movement of vehicles.

I have PLENTY more Ideas I just thought I would stop here as there is enough work here to keep everyone busy ;)

Dynamic day/night map changes. This would make AS maps VERY interesting!

Holograms! Right out of Duke Nukem 3D :D

Robotic Blade. Very cool idea, since I think there should be more remote control devices for ONS.

"Derby". WOO! Destruction Derby, UT style. I love it.

Flame thrower is a MUST have. I wonder if there is a way to reuse code and/or models/textures from Unr2?

The "Drunken Missle" idea reminds me of a weapon from Rise of the Triad (who remembers that game?!).

The drunken-missile idea is fantastic, I remember that custom weapon "Creeper" from UT1...

The current unreleased rev of the Ratt (still untextured) drives over tanks and other vehicles of such heights due to it's now larger ground clearance and unique shape.

I've been pondering the repair bays myself and don't feel they will make a large balance issue and the mechanics bay is a good idea - it would tie into a long range plan I am working. Instead of frag credits, why not just use something already in game - addrenalin (sp)? ;)

i think no because unr2 has a diferent engeni

I like that toxic waste idea rather than a suicide mission how about a vehicle that fires toxic waste globs as artillery that would be cool. And give it a spray gun for close combat. Just in case invantry trys to take it out.

Instead of credits, you could earn xx $ for every kill you make,
Everything costs a certain amount of $
Somebody make it!

@OP: A lot of what you want already exists if you know where to look:

Stuff like healpods and repair bays are the sort of thing an individual mapper might make as a one-off. For instance, Robo422's map ONS-MothershipSE (currently in beta) has a whole bunch of mothership assault turrets in it, and they can heal vehicles with 2nd fire.

MarZer is working on his dynamic weather effects (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=408310), which will eventually do that day/night thing you wanted as well as a whole bunch of other really neat stuff like meteor showers and tornadoes.

Most of your weapon ideas also share spiritual and inspirational kinship with the mods ChaosUT2:E (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=420973), Weapons of Evil (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=387090) and Unreal4Ever, each of which has, respectively, flamethrowers and new grenade/ornance types (inc. mines and napalm), the pepperpot RL, sporting the 5th Element replay function you wanted and the rapid fire laser thingy you wanted (in addition to the now infamous Dollbomb)...

T_Shinzon is working on a huuuuge array of vehicles (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=409989), including a couple of transports, the Ruination Walker (think MT-AT, only hard ) and the truly awesome Hydra Class Battlecruiser (think flying Leviathan, only, y'know, really hard)

And that's just the stuff I've been paying regular attention to!
In short, a little patience (quite a lot of this stuff is 'in progress' right now) and a good look through the rest of the Maps & Mods section will pay dividends. Good hunting!
