// Concept 1 : pickups
Vehicles can get various upgrades/downgrades by driving over a pickup.

Examples would be :
= extra armour/shield
= instant repair
= weapon
= extra power (faster)

Problem ?
It can only work with a vehicle that's designed around this concept, because the default vehicles might become overpowered or useless as a result of the various pickups.
A possible example would be the Scout trike (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=367437) as designed by Evile.

Better would be a vehicle that is designed to be upgradable so it can't become too powerful or useless.

// Concept 2 : upgrades
A 'standard' vehicle can have various predefined weapon/equipment configurations which would allow it to be used in a variety of roles.
The idea is the same as in (1), except the items would be added to the vehicle before it is spawned into the game.

love the idea of a vehicle upgrade adds more to the game, like everyone when there shot argue over the shield and health and its usualy one person that gets boath...

so having vehicles with the shield idea to me is gr8!

also if possable it could have little shields like from the shield gun but with better reflective/defencive properties!?

e.g. 2 at the front 3 accross each side, and 2 at the back?

just a thought!?

thanks:weird:

Separate shields/armour for front/rear/sides etc. would definitely be a good idea for vehicle-based shields.
After all even players in UT'99 had body & thigh-armour. Given the size of most vehicles it would make sense to give them different values for each section.
I'm not sure if it is possible to do this though, but as a concept I think it makes sense.

The only problem is that from a pure UT-style point of view this would add a little too much detail ...
