View Full Version : Character choice.

Is character choice purely for aesthetic value? Some of the characters are clearly ‘thinner’ than others. Are all the character hit boxes the same size, or is it advantageous to go for a thin character as it’s less likely you will be hit in a gunfight.
Thanks in advance.

It's for aesthetic preference, although "pros" like to choose female/thin models since they're harder to see. The hitboxes are the same though.

same hitbox for everyone, but thin characters are supposedly harder to hit because the are smaller and they have flipping animations when they double jump.

I use Jugg character, because I just like em...Its not how skinny youre character is....Its how fast you jump/dodge around with a huge one...

Maybe same hitbox, but thin, female models are harder to see, at least for me. I therefore conclude, perhaps errantly, that others will have a similar problem aiming at me. I therefore just pick the thinest, scrawniest model offered. Seems like a lot of people do the same. Goes back to Quake 2 and Tribes days. I remember playing Tribes back in 99 and a very high number of good players used the female model.

Personally, I use my preferred char (a skaarj) because there is something cool about having a tail and twin scythes on your hands... ;) I upgraded from the bone model to the actual serrated blade model, and I noticed that on the bone model, my whole body was getting colored red/blue (including dreadlocks) -- now, only my chestplate is, which is nice.
Should also be pointed out that there -are- differences in character if you have the species statistics on. To get a full rundown of the changes (and they are minor), check out the official strategy guide... but be warned, it's expensive.

It really doesnt matter, choose the character you like best because mostly everyone uses default skins anyway.

Another factor to consider is the voice you choose. I was using the robot voice for a while. But, something about it... whenever I took damage, I didn't cue in fast enough to the sound indicating I was getting hit (pitched battle and all that clouding my thought process). I seem to react better with a human voice making an easily recognizable oochie-oocihe-ouch-that-hurts-Im-dying-over-here kinda sound.

skaarj>guardian...just because he looks sooooo cool... but sometimes I use a girl model... don't know why but somehow prefer female chars in games above male  (except when they are so cool as skaarjs ofcourse ;) )
