I was just watching the thrid matrix film and cme up with a kick ass idea for an AS level.
One team would control a ship (which would only need the back end actually designing) which wouod have loads (16) minigun turrets on the back of it. The other team would control those spacefighter things or raptor's and have to destroy the ship.
or if anyone can mod the vechiles so they look like the matrix sentinal ships??
The first team have to defend the ship for 5mins or so and the attacking team have to destroy the ship (which would have so many hit points 100,00?)
The level would be set in some kind of tunnel thing (just like of the film, maybe with morpheus screaming defend the ship or something :)

It's not a bad idea. I'm not the biggest Matrix fan, but it doesn't sound bad.

Sounds good, but you'd need more than JUST flying towards the ship while trying to destroy it. If anyone puts it in their rotation, it's going to be a ten minute map, and ten minutes of it would get old. Add some more parts to it, and it could be great.

ok well how about when the back of the ship is destroyed the attacking team get into the ship and have to destroy the ships core.
along the way they could destroy the emp field?
makes it a much harder map to create.
Bit like mothership I guess, but with more of a matrix feel and a lot more speed.
1. disable gu turrets (shot all the gun turrets)
2. breach the hull (fly into back of ship)
3. Destroy the emp field generator
4. acceses the ships core
5. destroy the ships core
end
what do you think???

That sounds MUCH better. You could make it so that the back of the ship has to be blown off as well, rather than it just opening when the turrets go down.
Anyways, that's not a bad idea for a map. If you decide to go through with it, I'll be looking forward to it. Not nearly enough assault maps :(

I beleive this will be quite rediculous if you get some dumbass noob driving the ship. Im sure everone would ****ing love that :rolleyes: Your best bet is to set it on an automated path....
Good idea tho, good luck finding someone with the skills to design this, I would model somthing, but im too busy with.... things... that I cant really talk about, unless I wanna get my ass whooped by Loosecontrol :D

are talking about making this like in a giant tube (like the sewer type tunnels in the matrix) and have the background constantly moving like AS-Convoy? i peronally think it would be a fun idea...but i would wander where you spawn...if just in midair then the people on the guns could just spwn kill everyone :(

i was thinking of having a platform 500mtrs or so behind the ship which the attackign team would spawn from with the ships (tbc) all around them.

It'd work better if it went something like this:
- Defenders in ship : Attackers trying to destroy them before the ship reaches entrance to Zion (timed event?)
- Defenders enter Zion, dock gate closes : Attackers leave ships/sentinals and enter via air vents leading into Zion docks
- Defenders and Attackers have sniper/turret war, Attackers trying to get in and blow a door leading into Zion's machine room (or something important)
- Attackers enter machine room and try to take out "power source" for Zion, Defenders try and stop them with a Leviathan's boom-cannon-thingo-turret planted above the "power source".
- If Attackers win, Zion loses power, machines arrive and win. Defenders win... well... the Attackers die.
I dunno, it's not very true to the film, but it's some food for thought. Good luck!

When I originally saw the thread I figured that you might make a map resembling the Lobby in the first film. Objective: reach the level where the captive is (heck, I'm surprised no one has made an Invasion map based on the lobby).
However, your idea would be good too. ^_^

both those would be killer...
lobby, big fight there...--> Elevator to roof.
Big fight there --> Helicopter( Hack it I guess)
copter stops at window, fight against bad guys. you get one minigun turret.
get in, hack a spot, and run.
would be BEST if you had ONE person spawn inside a container that could only be freed when you reach that objective. :D

I have an idea on this. as the other dude mentioned, handle it like AS-Convoy, except ur in a tunnel, so the attackers are in one or a few of the sentinels in some sort of "control room" of them, you would could start with some thing resembling the laser cutter the robots had, and you have to destroy the ships defences.
Then after that was completed the sentinels would fly over the ship and latch onto it. Then the objective would be to penetrate the Hovership outer hull, of course the denfenders and you would be fighting on the ships hull. The attackers would be trying to blow up a hatch of some sort leading to say, a cargo bay.
Once you got that you would respawn in the cargo bay when you died. the objective would then be to pentrate the inner hull, as in the command area. It, could be defenced by destroyable turrents like in AS-Mothership where you have to denfend the cargo bays.
Once they were destoryed u would have to attack the Emp core, as the other guy had said. If you couldn't get it destoryed before they reached Zion it would activate, taking out all the sentinels and killing you.
It's simple really........well sort of hehe

It'd be great if the attackers were permanently inside Sentinals. Very cool.
