Demo and Full servers on different networks?

I want to ask this cause lately I've been getting 999 pings on all online games from my campus connection with the demo (I don't have full game yet; hopefully will get it tomorrow *crosses fingers* )

All of it happened around the time of the release of the full game, so I was wondering if Epic's master server or network or whatever now devoting most of its resources to the full game and all servers associated with it was what was causing my demo to experience 999 pings on all demo servers online.

What do you people think?

what would atari devoting resoruces to full retail servers have to do with your pings to demo servers? i'd gripe to your network support department.
