For those familiar with this mobo, the A7N8X Deluxe (http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7N8X%20Deluxe) has 3 memory slots capable of holding three 1Gb sticks of PC3200.

Currently I have two 256Mb sticks of PC2700. In theory, I would like to purchase one PC3200 512Mb stick. If I kept the two PC2700s in the two Twinbank slots and inserted the PC3200 into the third slot, would this work? What would the repurcussions be? Would the 512Mb only function at 333MHz instead of 400? Would the motherboard just refuse to recognize the memory with the two types inserted?

Any details? Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that would equal a gig of PC2700 RAM. I've never heard of a motherboard running different frequencies for different memory slots.

Hey, that's acceptable. I just want to make sure that it didn't equal 512Mb of PC2700 or PC3200 (if the mobo ignored the other type), and I really want to be able to replace the PC2700 with PC3200 when my system needs more than 1Gb.
