Anybody know some good websites to buy custom build PC's? I'm looking for a system that won't require much mantinence, and very high-end. I'll buy the videocard off newegg.com to save money

Also, is there a specific motherboard I should be looking for? And also, is a 64 bit processor from AMD worth the money? TY in advance!

www.cyberpowerpc.com

very good place i highly reccomend it

www.pricewatch.com

good place for parts

64 bit could be worth it in a few years, but maybe not yet if your on a budget. Look for A-Bit and especially Asus motherboards

good luck and good hunting, get a good heatsink too if your not gonna go watercooling

I use www.newegg.com

All of my computers besides my laptop are custom built. You save money and putting it together only takes like an hour or so. Plus you get individual warranties on all your seperate parts so if something does go, you don't have to send your entire system back.

-edit-

If you have the money, definitely go with an AMD 64. The 3200 is probably the best bang for your buck. Not only will current software scream, you will be future proofed.

64-bit software is a lot less than years away. Crytek is releasing a 64-bit version of Far Cry and I've heard Epic is doing the same with UT2004. There's also already 64-bit Linux releases and a 64-bit Windows beta.

-edit #2-

If you do go with an AMD 64, get a VIA chipset, not an nForce 3. Also if you are really rich and are getting an Athlon FX, get ECC registered RAM!

Well, I was already shopping at cyberpowerinc.com... but its good to know that its a reputable (spelling?) site. Anyway, I was thinking that if i did get a 64 bit processor, it would be prepared for the future. But by then they'll have better 64 bit processors... i dunno.

Here's the compuer I've made so far (http://order.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/wg-order?unique=f86c3&catalog=cyberpower&et=405f8dcb&basket=b%3D5C80e188d80135cb405f86c36e3b1d0e188d861 af3c183367cdcf200de60a4cb9%26l%3D%26s%3Dtb7X7nRORg fxN6o1XgrR69g09tk-) I'm only 13... so I don't have that big of a budget, lol. Tell me what you guys think. I'm gonna probably get a videocard from the new line coming out in a few months, so I'll just use the 9600 pro I have right now from my old computer.

There is ALWAYS something that will be better than yours. Just get what you want, and be happy with it. You can't avoid it. Even if you get the absolute best parts you can buy today, next month something new will be out that is faster.

That computer doesn't look bad at all. Your video card will probably be a bottleneck but it should be more than enough to handle UT2004. I'd love to have that system.

Mate, you have forgotton a sound card, or do you intend to use onboard, it does the job but not to the extent a dedicated one can. Also on the software front you do know that USB2.0 is not supported by windows XP (unless its SP1)

But looks good so far

For a sound card I'd recommend the Audigy 2 ZS. You can get it for $80 and it comes with 2 full version games (Tomb Raider: AOD and Rainbow Six: Raven Shield). Not to mention the fact that it has probably the best CPU utilization you can get with a sound card.

sry, i should have explained

Here are my current system specs:
-512MB RAM (dont know speed)
-Windows XP home edition
-P4 2.4 ghz
-ATI Radeon 9600 PRO
-WD 30gb HDD w/2mb cache
-Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS w/Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers

This is my plan: get the new computer and use my 9600pro in it while I collect more money. when they come out, i will either get the R420 or the NV40 depending on benchmarks. when I get this new videocard, I will put the 9600pro back into my old computer and set up a LAN... then I can finally play some multiplayer on my computer!!!

I'm definitly not getting this computer within the next two months AT LEAST... because my system is already fine, plus I dont have the money yet.
