Ok guys I know how fustrating this is. I've had non stop headaches with installing to total freeze up with this game.

I called Atari.. they told me that alot of the DVD's are bad disk, but if you actually were able to load up and play a game or so and it locks up, its the sound card codes..

they are working on a patch for this as well as a unch of other patches. i did everything. uninstalle and reinstalled over and over. Even my drivers!

So while i was on the phone, the operator told me the issue that was goign around for the DVD... it's when the music for the actual map or menu get into it's final that it loops back to start over... and for some reason this is making PC's lock up or unplayable. How You got me! i dunno..

so after looking and reading many of our post and problems..

I went into setting for UT2004

and lowered the music to 0.00 and kep the rest at normal and all the extra's on.

I ALSO PUT MY REFRESH RATE TO 70 AS WELL.. FOR MY MONITOR

no speak rec or players skins..all off

and so far it's been playign liek a deam.. Sucks that there is nop music but hey till they fix it , i can live without the music.

give it a shot, it may work...

post here if it works or not.

Sorry guys, i spoke too soon. it ran alot better, but it did freeze after a good few maps.

if i figure anything out on this or when customer service for atari calls me, i'll update you all as well.

it'll really blow if i need to send it in and wait 3-7 weeks to get the game when it was PRE-ORDERED for the longest, to then make me wait for another version or copy!.

Wow wait a min, did they really told you a lot of the DVD's are bad disks ? That is important to know so I can talk to the shop I bought this game. My DVD player can't read the disk. It says disk structure is corrupted and can't be read.

But some ohters said the DVD works fine in their newer DVD players. I have an old one.

no, a lot of the dvds are not bad discs. that would mean going to the store and getting a new version of the same thing would fix your problem.

the problem is with DRIVES that cant read the discs.
