OK, try this. setup a botmatch, and spectate it. no matter WHAT the link setup, or skill level, red team will ALWAYS lose.
you play on blue team, you win in less then ten minutes. you play red team, you may go into overtime....
what gives?!?

Um... are you talking about onslaught? I've found that, tactically, blue's point nearest their base it in a better place, because red have to face away from blue's base when coming out of the canyon, thus exposing their back and inviting crossfire. If it's just a deathmatch then I dunno...

Strange that the devs didn't catch this though...

What, are the Devs racists? Don't like Red people? Huh? :P
Um...not sure why that is. Maybe it is just because of the map setup.

Watch the red team man...
they litterally run in circles, hop in and out of vehicles, run, when there is a manta RIGHT there. get OUT of a manta prefering to run. they drive their vehicles into walls and keep the pedel to the metal, their aim is always off....
and blue team...dead on aim, use vehicles like real people, RARELY get stuck...
what gives?

I noticed this too. I haven't tried spectating a botmatch yet, but I noticed how the blue team tends to dominate. I've witnessed actual teamwork among the blue players, as they work to repair a damaged node. Then I turn and see a fellow reddie ignore a dead node and blast off in a manta only to run into a wall, get stuck, and sit there untill he gets blown up.
Because of the red teams stupidity, I have been forced to convert, at least for ONS. It's sad how stupid the bots can be, even on godlike.

As I type, a 16 on 16 BR Godlike botmatch is STILL going. I say still, because I started this at about 11:20 (so it's almost been a full hour) and the game is still going. Red team IS getting beaten in terms of the score, but the match is a virtual deadlock. (This post has two points.)
The first point is that, even though the blue team is winning, the blue team has guys intentionally jumping through their own goal, killing themselves. Whuh?
Second point is that Bombing Run needs a shootout of sorts; a one on one in a mini arena to get the ball and score.

Today while I was out, I set my PC to run a few matches against itself to see what would happen. When I got back, blue had scored twice, and red once... red was in the process of scoring again when I turned on my monitor.
However I also noticed that red seems to suck when I play against blue. Spectating there's no problems.

Tried it,blue eventually had all nodes but one, went back and forth on that one and it was pretty obvious who was going to win so i quit.

Online, on ONS, it seems to me red wins more.

I've also noticed red team always seem to lose in offline ONS matches, and that's no matter which team I choose to play on.
And the majority of each battle seems to take place at the one node closest to red base, with the rest of the map often deserted :(

Anyone have any idea why its like this?
Im curious.Gave the bots one more try at it,and blue won again.

It's because your not randomizing the bots. If you don't set the options right you will always get the same bots into the game. Not all of the bots are equal. Epic gives some of them higher accuracy etc. So it just so happens that with default settings the red bots have higher stats.

You could make new links with the Link Designer (only avalable in Instant action in the ingame menu under the map tab) to make it more balanced!
heres a sample
http://www.blooddawn.dk/downloads/ut2k4/ONS-Torlan.ini
place this file in your UT2004demo/system folder. if the file exsist then open it and add the data from mine to yours and save it.
The link setup can be selected from the map list or loaded during gameplay (via the link designer), if you select the one called ons_Torlan (Auto select link setup) and set a number of rounds (ie. 3 rounds before map change), them it will load a new link setup each round.

as stated, it doesn't matter what the link setup is....red always loses.
and yes, when a real player is in there, red can win. however it is still a harder battle then if you are on blue team.

It can go either way. Usually, if a team gets trounced the server shuffles players accordingly. It's just you, I'd garner...
Here's a picture of a fuzzy cute kitten:

So then... I made a good choice to be Red in Instant Action. Always playing from behind preps me for what ends up happening online.... getting buttz kicked!
Wonder if the devs might have set it up that way just to see if anyone was watching!?
