View Full Version : weapons stop working

Every once in a while, while playing out on network servers (haven't played much IA so I don't know if it's a problem there) one of my weapons, usually a projectile type weapon like flak or secondary shock will simply stock working! At other times, just the first shot will not work.

As an example, sometimes I'll switch to the shock and will not be able to fire an orb, although I can fire a shock beam. Or, I may not be able to throw any translocators. I can *hear* the gun fire, but it doesn't *actually* fire. And in the second scenario, and this typically happens with rockets and bio (at least that's when it's the most obvious) I'll try to charge the weapon up but when I release nothing comes out. The next shot does fire but it's a piddly amount of bio, or a single rocket.

When this is happening, other players on the server do not have similar problems.... often I'm described as dancing around pointlessly as they're confused as to why I don't fight back. I did notice in one particular instance, that my character seemed to be stuck on the flak cannon (behindview 1) although my client thought I was on a different weapon (behindview 0). In this particularly nasty case, *none* of my weapons worked.

At any rate, this has happened to a couple other people I've talked to, and doesn't seem to be specific to a single server. For the life of me, I can't figure out *why* it would do this. If anyone out there could please post any suggestions or things to try I'd greatly appreciate it! My own machine is a dual AMD 1.8s with 128mb radeon and 1gig ram so I don't think it's any kind of performance problem. If there are any logs, server-side or client-side that I coule provide or cause to be provided, let me know as well and I'll get the relavent info out to you.

Thanks in advance,

Could you give the details of you system spec as this might be an issue relating to graphics or simply a slow machine

well from the system specs you have provided obviously your system is no slouch. So the only advice i can offer is to upgrade your graphics drivers.
