Hi Guys, we're currently looking for new members for our team. We're working on a 3rd person multiplayer combat mod for UT2k3/UT2k4 based on wizards, sorcerers and magery. Combat/spell casting system will be very similar to the one found in Ultima Online.

I've posted very basic information in our web: www.wyndrax.com
I'll try to update it as soon as posible with more gameplay information, type of spells, how player and spell selection will work, etc. If you want, we can chat about that too.

The programming of the project is comming along nicely, there is a lot of working code already in place. We have spent our time adding all the functionality of the game. Right now you can play a multiplayer game and cast spells, damage other players, consume mana, be affected by spells effects (poison, paralize), etc. Now we're needing someone to work on the characters, maps and effects. Artists will have total creative freedom over characters and map design. We are looking forward a fantastic/medieval style.

If you are interested in joining our team, start by having a look at the 'to do' list found in our homepage. We have a design document written, but it's not in english I'll translate most of the info and post it on our web.

Well, I'll keep you updated about our project.

Rob.

------ EDIT: -------

If you want to see some concepts for the characters, please visit http://www.wyndrax.com/concept.html
Those are the kind of sorcerers we would like to have in the game. If you can help us, please, write us!

Yes do keep us posted...

I am not a good modeler and I dont know anything about Programing And I dont use Max but I do have G-max(Just learning) and I use Truespace6.6 (Used for Low Poly Modeling)and Poser5 to model and Animate my characters but I dont have the Plugin that allows the Talk between the two Programs...I Do alot of Fantasy type Renders and I am up for helping with the Promotion Renders(High Resolution Models)of The Levels and or ensuing Game that you come out with...Now alot of these Pics are just Test Renders to check the Effects and just to see how they would have looked,Now Animating them would be a fun challenge but one that I dont think I would have time to learn in Truespace and then Porting it over to the animation file that you need? Now for the characters I can come up with a Higher resolution Poser Female model of 7000 or 7500(A standard Poser Character is 25000 and Higher Polys) maybe smaller if I really work at it and I can maybe do a texture of 3000x3000 Photo Realistic but then it would have to be run thru the Dxt right? The Problem I was running into was that the head was 2500 to 3000 Poly's so I could achieve Realistic results but what ends up happening is that you end up with a character that is 7000 polys and slows things down and you have to cut out geometry/StaTic meshes to speed things up...Unfortunately my time is very limited with me helping on the "Aveara" Project.....BUT like I said I can help in any way let me Know...

Thanks for the tip on Unwrap...I also have an UNWRAP tool in Truespace 6.6,Hmmmm will have to see what file format it saves in,Also I guess I could get the GamePak plugins from Caligari...

What I was refering to tho was I dont have the Plugin that will let Max/G-max import the BVH files from Poser That I have done or will do,Now I have the one for Poser to Bryce just not Poser to Max(Yet)I am going to start learning MayaPLE so maybe I will be able to save the Animation files from MayaPLE into Unreal T 2003/2004...Has anyone used the free edition of Maya to save animations for Unreal Tournament 2003?

Well keep us posted....

In most cases the current default UT2003 animations are used.......all you do is build your character model to fit one of the UT2003 skeleton and then export using ActorX......

Thanks for interest guys. I made some minor updates in our homepage www.wyndrax.com

Our current priority is to find a character modeler.

More updates to come in the next few days. Thanks again.

Well here is a quick screen shot of the wizard 1 model in Progress..This is after 2 or so hours this morning,I know I am slow and New to this so just bare with me as I get a little better each time,Of course in the final model you will not see the chin/Jaw area because of the Beard I am going to model for this character...Right now when I mirror this model I have 1200 Polys and my limit is 3200 so I am well within my limit at this stage...Still need to do the pouches and the hands and feet(Very low poly on the feet)with a little more detail in the hands...The beard and Hair I will decide when the time comes...

The reference Picture is not mine I am just using it as a reference Photo and unfortunately they didnt have a side shot so I am just winging it on what I want him to look like...

You might be prompted to JOIN the Site it is free and there are tons of resources and Tutorials for everybody....

Wizard In Progress (http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=577638&Start=1&Artist=foleypro&ByArtist=Yes)

A ton of posssibilities are running rampant thru my brain....But Back to modeling, this is just a rough draft that I have done in roughly 9 hours I Have added the feet,Hands and a Wizards hat I am going to go back thru and start Optimising the Model by getting rid of Extra Poly's that I dont need then I am going start Seperating the model for Texturing,Also I will designing some different staffs for each character to be able to attain and use with the Ultimate Staff containg some special Magic....Hahahahahaaaaaa...Total fun...

Just to let you all know this is MY FIRST character that I have actually built from a BOX...All of the other models I have I have Morphed them into my own This one is MY BABY...Go easy but let me know what you think...Poly count is at 2200,I will be cutting out some details, I am shooting for 3200 poly's or lower with all of the detail being in the Face and hands and Staff's...Thanks and As Alway B3D

I'm just asking since this is a 3rd person style mod you're doing.... wouldn't "Neverwinter Nights" work better for this? I've made my own maps for this and i only mention it since you mentioned Ultima Online as the style of things. I'm not trying to knock it as I think it will be great and the engine in UT2003 is far superior and the graphics will be better with UT2003 also.

Hi,

It's not a mod based on Ultima Online, is just a game of combats between wizards...take the current UT2k3, change the characters for wizards, swap the weapons for spells and thats what Wyndrax is. The spell casting system will be similar to the one found in UO...It's quite fun, you have to cast spells, avoid other spells, hide behind stuff, protect teammates with defense spells, try to make the enemy wizards fizzle.
We already have a nice team of artists/programmers but we still need mappers.

Regards, Rob.

Here is an update of the Character in Milkshape3D before I Attach all of the Vertices to the Bones...Now I have heard that I need to copy and Paste the Mesh Properties of the ACTUAL Model that uses the Skeleton into my MODELS Mesh Properties so that the MODELS will both be XYZ Compatible?

Well...Hello all..

I have gotten the First Version of the Wizard into Unreal Tournament 2K4 and have had him running around and shooting,I am going to Optimise the mesh a little more then I will Texture and submit to the Contest,As soon as I have the Finished shots I will upload a few for all to see...I am working on the Robe/Jacket.It is working real good using the animations in The editor,So on the next Character I am going to be doing like a full Length Leather Jacket or some thing to this effect...Maybe I might need to change the skeleton that I will use...I am going to Paint more Realistic Weights on this Mesh and then Re-texture...
