This mutator adds a persistent levelup system to UT2003. Frags will give you EXP towards a levelup. After a levelup, you get a (configurable) number of points to use on statistics such as weapon speed, health, adrenaline, and damage modifiers or abilities such as Regeneration. Bonus EXP is given for killing players of higher level than you, multikills, sprees, headshots, winning a match, and (in certain gametypes) scoring game objectives. Every player's level, stats, and abilities are all saved to .ini and reloaded in future games when that player joins.

As if all that wasn't enough, UT2003RPG now features magical weapons and artifacts. Any weapon you pick up has a chance of being magical and having special modifiers, such as increased damage. Additionally, artifacts are special pickups placed randomly throughout the level which can be activated to give an ability or bonus. Artifacts consume your Adrenaline when in use.

NOTE ON UPGRADING FROM THE BETA: If you played the beta v4.0 and wish to keep your data, in addition to following the readme's instructions on upgrading, also open your UT2003RPGv4.ini and replace all "UTRPGBonusPack" with "UTRPGBonusPackv4_0" (no quotes)

I apologize for the painful upgrade procedures. If it makes you feel any better, UT2004 doesn't require renaming packages to avoid "Version Mismatch" errors, and thus all this upgrade pain will no longer happen.

And here's the long changelist:
-Magic Weapons! Now kill your foes in more ways than ever before with Piercing Shock Rifles, Rocket Launchers of Infinity, Flak Cannons of Protection +3, and much, much more.
-Artifacts! These powerful items tap your adrenaline in new ways, giving you powers such as invulnerability and flight.
-Added menu options for choosing the frequency of magic weapons and artifacts
-Fixed capping a stat resulting in all the players being given the amount it was being capped at
-Fixed Incompatible Game Files message when playing on UT2003RPG server and then moving to a server without it
-Adrenal Drip now requires a higher max adrenaline before you can buy it
-Fixed Denial Level 2 netplay problems
-Fixed Denial Level 2 not working with default weapons
-Fixed getting hit for extremely high damage (like an Instagib hit) and still surviving causing your view to shake sickeningly for a really long time
-Added abilities: Adrenal Surge, Speed Switcher, Awareness, Monster Tongue
-Fixed Ultima damaging teammates in Invasion even if Friendly Fire was off
-Fixed bots who gained a large number of levels in one shot always spending all their points in one stat
-Fixed Ghost not giving the proper amount of health at Level 3
-Fixed BR ball launcher always firing as soon as you pick up the ball
-The Hoarding ability will now remove itself from the ability list in Invasion games
-When running a server, the mutator now adds the necessary ServerPackages entry to UT2003.ini by itself
-Fixed Accessed None errors when using UT2003RPG, Instagib, and Invasion at the same time
-Fixed Ghost crashing the server in unpathed levels
-Added graphical EXP bar
-The RPG HUD displays now properly scale to your resolution
-Major optimizations
-Since autosaving is much faster now, all data is saved at once
-Added option "Auto Adjust Invasion Monster Level", which will adjust the Invasion monsters' level based on the lowest level player currently playing
-Added option "Monster Adjustment Factor", for tweaking the previous new option
-Fixed players who left the game still being displayed in "See Player Levels" menu
-Fixed stats menu not properly updating the ability list after the player reset data
-Server info now displays the Starting Level setting
-Resupply now regenerates an ammo amount based on the original max ammo value
-Resupply now gives ammo at a slightly slower rate
-Fixed console spam when someone gains many levels at once. Now only one message is printed regardless of how many levels were gained
-Fixed player names with a double quote in them crashing the server and corrupting save data

This is incredible!

Iīve been away for weeks and today I was wondering if the final has been released. I didnīt see anything, but few hours later it was. :P

It doesnīt appear in the mutators list, in the log file, itīs said that a "UTRPGTextures" is missing.

Oops. Sorry, didn't think of that. I'll start doing a final bugfix release after the new year and then it's done... at least until UT2004 is out, anyway.

Hereīs my oppinion:

The magic weapons are very cool, I wish I was better in English because I donīt know what most of the words that are added to the weapon names mean.

The Artifacts are buggy for me, it says "press U" but nothing happens, I tried Enter and it works, but only with activating Triple Damage.

The monster "bodyguard" is plain awesome. I got the Warlord and itīs kicking the botsī ass. :p

Total score: 9.5 :D:up:

I think the readme needs fixing. you say in the rpg ini file to replace "ut2003rpg" with "ut2003rpgv4". I had to replace with "ut2003rpgv4_0"

For the beta testers that have the serverpackremover actor, you need to change the following:

ServerActors=UT2003RPGv4.RPGServerPackageRemover

to

ServerActors=UT2003RPGv4_0.RPGServerPackageRemover

and of course this should be the serverpackages now in the server ini file

ServerPackages=UT2003RPGv4_0
ServerPackages=UTRPGBonusPackv4_0

Hmm, I just checked the readme and it looked like it said everything right to me. ServerPackages isn't mentioned because the mutator (should) be able to figure it out itself.

Protection = you take less damage, based on the multiplier. (+ 5 = 50% less damage)
Force = Projectiles fly faster
Piercing = projectiles go through sheilds. right to the life
Penetrating' projectiles go through the player, like the zoom instagib rifal
Infinity' = never run out of ammo
Damage, or "Flack Cannon +4" = more damage. +4 means 140% normal damage
Sturdy = You won't bounch around when hit
Energy = gain adrenalin for kills
Luck = spawns things like sheilds around you
Poison = keep hurting your opponents after you hit them

Mysterial: I tried AngelMapperīs superweapons pack. Weird thing happened. I was unhurtable before, but when I enabled the superweapons pack mutator, the bots could hurt me and they survived 5x more projectiles from my weapons. Itīs like this mutator disables the abilities and stat points youīve bought/added.

Hmmm, I've not tried them with UT2003RPG. Will do so at some point.

Sweet. :up: Playing on Lightbringer's server is great fun with this. :up::up:

Say, did you catch the bug where weapons that share ammunition and Denial mess up? Before the release of the final, I was playing on Light's server and once got a Minigun of Infinity. Then I died, and then Denial Lv. 2 gave the the Mini again. But it had no ammo and I couldn't replenish it...

What? It was working as of a week ago. Even melee weapons (except melee blocking wasn't working)

All Mysterial's (as of this date) mutators are mirrored @ ftp://furpile.com/mods/ut2k3/Mysterial/

Mysterial, sorry about not asking Your permission to do this ;)

I will also make an interface to my Furser utility ( http://furpile.com/UTCMS/documents/Furser/ ) so that You can add mutators like this using wizard instead of using the now available manual approach.

The interface is there. Try it Yourself. I made 16 wizards for Mysterials mutators... BTW, Mysterial would be a nice name for a mutator :)

Damn this thread is dead! :p

Anyway, there are 3 stats-menu bugs Iīve seen:

1. When you go over 9999 stat points available or spent, the box shows 0000 instead of 10,000. Make the numbers smaller or the box longer. ;)

2. When you go over level 99,999, the level number will go behind the picture of the selected artifact.

3. When you have 10,000+ stat points available to spend, the number will show 999 instead of 9999 if you spend 1+ stat point.
And if you keep spending, the number in the box will end up looking like this: 099 instead of 4099 for example.

Here are few additional things you should check about or tell me what to do:
1. You should have maximum number on the Weapon Speed stat box.
Maybe 1,000 - 1,250?

2. When I pickup artifacts, the U key doesnīt work, but Enter does. I havenīt configured U in the customize controls as I know.

3. When I press Enter to use an artifact, the Triple Damage and Teleporter only work as Iīve seen, the other artifacts wonīt activate.

4. And please have an option to turn off the particles that come on levelup. I donīt have the RAM for it when I levelup over 1000 levels.

Fix this stuff please or tell me whatīs wrong. ;):p
About the stat boxes, if possible, make the boxes big enough for 99,999,999. ;)

That can make the stats dialog alot bigger, but thatīs better than only see the first 4 numbers in 300,000. ;)

They still packin it in on my server even with ut2004demo out. It would be a good idea to use another default key for using the artifacts now that there are so many vehicles in ut2004.

lol, no I don't. I configured the 'e' key for vehicle use. I'm just thinking of the n00bs who continually ask me the question on my server on a daily basis.

I use Enter.
You should see what Iīve found wrong with your mutator these months. :p

If you fix this, itīd be better for me because Iīm at level 16 million. ;)

And the numbers are kind of big in my HUD and levelup menu. :p

Highest level player on my server is over 34,000. I have 2 more over 30,000. They have no secret, just takes time. My level is around 5,400.

It takes no time for me at all.

But he should make an option to turn off the particles system on levelup.

It totally fills my little 256 Mb RAM.

But he should make an option to turn off the particles system on levelup. I thought he did, didn't he? Isn't there an option about it in the ini mentioned in the readme? I'll go look.

Ok then.

You need Facing Worlds 2003 by Teddie and the Sentinel Deployer by Mr Evil.
But the particles system makes the game unplayable so just relax and wait for your millions to come. :p

Before starting, make sure youīre powerful enough to gib a bot with 1 bullet. :p
1. Go to the enemy base and place some Sentinels near all the spawnpoints, both left/right face of the building, have the Sentinels far from each other so itīs 100% sure that youīll kill every enemy.

2. Place more Sentinels in the ceiling inside the enemy building.

3. Take their flag and run to your base but donīt score, this way, your teammates canīt score so the match will never finish.

4. Now stand still there and youīll get holy **** so often that you get up to 10,000 levelups every kill. :D
But things can happen that the bots live long enough to reset to DoubleKill though, but itīs rare.

5. Donīt forget to repair the Sentinels regularly.

This trick is considered as cheat probably. :p

Oh, and one more thing....

If I have a penetrating Bio-rifle, and a poison Bio-rifle, do those stats stack?

If I have a lucky Shock-rifle, and a piercing Mini-gun, do those stats only affect the guns they apply to, or are they all stackable? (My flack would then be lucky and piercing.)

In other words, I have to select the "lucky" gun to be lucky? I have to select the poisoned gun to poison people? Can I collect tons of magic weapons so that every shot is poisoned, piercing, penetrating, forceful, etc?

(Of course the infinity modifier only affects the gun it belongs to, ALL guns with infinate ammo would be a little unfair.

Correct, the modifier only works for the gun you're holding.

I haven't. Now with ut2004 here, I'm not doing anything until RPG2004.

Hey, Myst. I got a question about the ghost ability. I am making a map, and am wondering what determines where you spawn? I have a very large (z-axis) map, and sometimes it takes a minute before I spawn again. Is there something I should do with zone info or some other actor property? Also, I think, not sure, but I do think when some player that has ghost ability disconnects, that the Gorge player shows up.

Ghost just picks a random NavigationPoint in the map and sends you there. Considering the size of UT2004's ONS and AS maps I'm considering not letting it spawn you too far away for UT2004RPG, though.... it would suck to have it spawn you in the enemy base in an Onslaught map or something.

That's a good point about the Gorge thing... I can see how that might be possible. I'll look at it in more depth and see if there is a bug there I can fix. Thanks.

Just played some more, I dunno if this is an RPG bug, but it has to do with RPG, so... Anyway, U4E weapons aren't affected by Damage Reduction... It sucks to have a bot get up to your level just because they managed to kill you with a U4E weapon, especially if you are level 1 million+.

I just confirmed that for sure the Gorge character does show when a player with the ghost disability disconnnects. Actually, in this case, the player had a necrisskinpack which I have loaded on my client side. I was able to watch this player as they disconnect, watch their ghost go somewhere with the same skin in this instance.

I'm not sure if this is the only instance the Gorge character shows up, but it is a confirmed instance.
