Could the UT2004 demo be out soon! since its october

I think it will be same as repairing UT2003, it will only replace the official UT files and none of your custom maps/mods/skins/etc.
Allthough, that is what i hope, because i don't wanna export all my maps for UT2003 first, then delete alle the UT2003 folder, then install 2k4, import all my maps back, and after that (wich will have taken a couple of hours), start gaming.

There are gonna be bugs regardless of when they release it. The demo fixes get rid of the majority though.

Friday marks the end of the Buzz Tour. I expect the demo will be out next friday.

Where did you read that rumour? o_O :weird: Heck, sure'd be great, but i doubt it tho... Haven't seen anyone from Epic around the forums lately either, surely they're working on it, but still leaving ppl nutz wondering about it :)

That's how rumours get started, somebody just invents some "fact" and starts spreading it around.
Everybody else does the rest, and thusly a new rumour is born.
Of course they're better if the person later claims (s)he never said anything, and manages to destroy all evidence. :)

For your heartattack of the day, there are test servers for 2k4 out.

I was one in BR playing Anubis, and one for Dm.
I couldnt get in... no redirect, no download, no error message. which means version incompatability......

If you were able to go to any of the 3D Buzz Tour locations, they had a LAN setup for a 2k4 demo. I don't know if it was TEH demo, but it was a lot of fun. :D

The kind of rig running the game wasnt mentioned, so you can not draw conclusion out of that.

Err I played Ut2k4 quite a bit on some decent, but not cutting edge, PC's in the Houston stop of the Buzz3D tour, and it sure as hell wasn't running at 3FPS. I suggest someone get some technicians to work on those machines, because nothing that runs a GHz and above with a DDR-based GeForce or Radeon graphics card should run at anything close to 3FPS.

Now if those guys bought a little Geforce MX card I could understand slower framerates, because those little things don't scale well with the more powerful CPU's.

My two cents on it. :)

It DOES run on more machines: the software renderer will be included for people without decent vidcards.
It probably does run smoother in existing maps... even if just a few percent. You can't expect giant improvements in FPS with just optimisations. You have to completely rework an engine to get large differences, and there's actually a limit to how fast a PC can render large amounts of polygons. (and I expect all current engines to be in the speed area where it's very hard to improve further. Why? If it was easy to make it faster, they would've done it earlier)

Finally, like said before, the PC wasn't mentioned. It may have been a not-so-hot rig. I doubt Epic will make the mistake of expecting supercomputers agáin.

well if you think of it like this . . . . .
they have a build that was good enough to tour, obvisouly they wanted to take the game on tour before they relesed the demo otherwise they wouldnt get as bigger turn out as they did for the tour events. . . . .

now, the tour is over isnt it?, or close to finishing?

so if you be patiaint while they work out the last few kinks im sure they'll have a build good enough to use as a demo in no time :up:
