[ELF] Cheaters in the Worldstats

Epic I have read countless posts on this and will keep resuracing this until you all do something about this!!! These folks have made it 100% obvious and Epic; what are you going to do about this? Can you make this game any better for the honest people who spent 49 bucks on your game. I mean maybe you think that hey its only one or two people complaining about this, but I really think the community as a whole can make this change!!!! The game is great, but when people are ignored on this matter it may eventually change the entire cultural UT dynamic. We now have a "cult" like following so why don't you fix this cheat stuff like the network hacks that took so long for you to react on. I mean it took someone to publicly post the hacks until you did something. I am not knocking you (EPIC) but just get your priorities straight. What is your list of priorities for this game? Could you list those for us in hear?

Well some of us take the stats and learn from them to get better. Also it is a nice thing to work hard as hell to get in the top 10. Now with all this crap in the stats it is meaningless. Our clan just has our own stat engine which works excellent. I just think that epic should fix it in UT2003 first before they release UT2004. This just goes to show us all we have to pay another 40 bucks to get a new game that I am sure will have more bugs and cheats within weeks.....Oh thats right we will have to wait till UT2005 or maybe UT2006?:rolleyes: . Again all I ask is what are Epics top 10 priorities? What will they do to make the community even better?

you know if you guys didn't talk about ELF guys in the public forums (hence acknowledging them) and didn't say a word to them in game where u know there was an ELFbot even when the score was 100-10, they will go away. If there's no one to "credit" their silly coding achievement then why would they spend the time to make these bots?

Yet day in and day out more of you will come here and yell and scream about aimbots hence making the ELF coders smile and laugh at you. There will be aimbots in Ut2004, too, no matter what Epic "does" about it. So please, go on, continue to complain and you will be complaining about aimbots alllll the way to UT2010 and beyond :up: :up:

I wish they'd make a CFMX port of a LocalStats log interpreter, then I could host one for our server (66.165.90.177), but alas it only comes in php :(

But for the rest of us, the world stats work ok, even if it's easy to get up high in em (some people play the same map over and over again because it's the only one that gives em a + elo score :)) by "crafty" means...

And as for elf? Meh, screw em, we know they cheat, they know they cheat, it's not like any respects given, best thing to do is ignore em :)

What is so hard about simply deleting those stats entries and and
banning thier tag? any half retarted dba could do that in 1 minute.

Everyone *****ed and moaned when the stats were f*ed up,
and now we have nice working stats, but theres no point in trying
to achieve anything because cheating is not being dealt with
in the stats.

There isn't a good way for Gamspy to tell the difference between a bot and a player since actual players can have the same names as bots and 0 ping. I personally like to see bots listed in the player list because usually if I see a server with just one or two people I will avoid it. If there were also bots in the game, I would go ahead and join since bots can be challenging if your ping is not low.

That's nothing. Do you know the game "Gore"? Someone made a mod for Gore which shows a server to have 10,000 players on it, and the guy had it up a few months back for a couple of weeks. Gore was ranked #6 on Gamespy, and I couldn't believe it until I went and checked the Gore server list. Now THAT is stuffing the ballot box.

why dont people refuse to play against them, then they wont get anywhere in the stats.

Beggers belief why people dont kick them, ELF should not be bothering us on Map Vote servers because they should know that they would get kicked within 10secs. But no. People seem to think they 'owned' them just because they ended their wicked sicks. Playing the other day and only I placed a kick vote - one guy was even like 'oh just accept that there will be cheaters'.

If people just left/didnt respawn/or better still kicked then they'd soon get bored. Its not ideal and I can predict all the counter responses - but surely it's better than just getting fragged 100 times in a row...??

Here's an idea. How about we put these momos([ELF]s)on our buddy list and when we find them playing somewhere, we go in and everyone telefrag the living sh-t out of them for every game they play! All they'll see is swirls of light as all pass through their pathetic little sELFish skins. I'm sure they would get tired of that, eh?

As someone mentioned earlier, people need to leave the server...

I have elfs on my buddy list so I can spectate em to see how the progress is going, but I will never play em (potential elo score losses are reason enough) because I'll never give em the satisfaction of getting 2 kills on me.

Also, mapvote kick em off, it's there for a reason, no reason not to use it!

Otherwise, if you're not doing this, then quit complaining. As a web developer I know that deleting their name is not going to do anything, if anything we're lucky they USE the elf tag because we can track them down sooner. What if everyone of them started aliasing like ucuri and such? Then we'd never be able to look at a person and say "oh yeah that person's a bot, their whole clan is"?

I'd say ban their cd key, those that have had their cd key stolen can contact atari/epic i believe and get another one, this was an issue earlier in the year if I'm not mistaken. If they ban enough keys, eventually they'll shut em down. If people are downloading their trojans, it's their own fault.

1 - Who cares about stats anyway as far as a ranking, they are only really handy for checking out a match by match basis to see how you did and with what weapons. I couldn't give a rats a$$ to how I am ranked personally, as game stats rankings don't truly reflect a players level of play. I have seen many cases of players looking for gump players in servers to bolster there rankings and flee as soon as someone that will kill them tons comes in and damages there precious ranking.

2 - I have yet to see a player that I could 100% say was botting in 2k3, not to say there not out there as they are. I chalk up what ever beating I receive to I was outplayed, outaimed and outcontrolled. And if I ever come across a player that is botting I will just leave the server and go else where, and e-mail the admin with the players name. In hopes that he would get banned from that server if its a good one that I enjoy playing on.
