every since i reinstalled my audigy sound card and put all the new drivers in my speakers (all 6 now work) but in games when I get a high pitched not all sounds. Has to be like a body hitting the ground next to me in Ut2k3. Anyways I get crackling, and a popping in my speakers. also on the new Mohaa demo on the machine gun for the Allies anytime I fire it I get this sound.

Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

What's the details?

Audigy1 and Audigy2 sometimes don't like XP (card will periodically stop working).

Are you using the Creative Inspire 6.1 Speakers? They may start cracking, popping and banging (loudly) - this is a subwoofer fault.

In both cases contact Creative Support for an RMA.

Is this in games only or are the snaps, crackles and pops in also mediaplayers?

its an Audigy1 with Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers.

The subwoofer has no problem. The speakers were fine wwhen I first built the pc but the center never worked. They wounded good and no crackling but the center sucked. Now they sound great center works but there is crackling with certain sounds in games. I recently reloaded my hadr drive thats why I reinstalled everything. Where can I find these updates. Oh yeah Win XP Pro

I recently won an Audigy in a PC magazine competition. It's nice to know what I can look forward to...

After a fresh install i was getting crackling also. Very annoying! Also an Audigy1 owner. In the end i narrowed it down to the subwoofer, the surround setting, set it to 0 and the crackling dissapeared for me.

Check out the Support at www.creative.com (and Altec Lansing) and have a look through the forums. Chances are other people have had this problem.

I found lots of people whos Audigy 2 went tits-up and who had problems with speakers. Their help was invaluable.

for me I updated the drivers.... and if that doesn't work...

make sure that your Windows XP volume control is about at halfway or a little less....

Did you set the bass in AudioHQ for the Card or in the Control Panel in Windows?

I will try both the main volume and bass volume.

update bios and system drivers then the audio drivers

if you installed DX9 after drivers were installed, re-install the drivers or get the latest.

it must be a problem with the card or something because i get crackling sound with linux also when i start the game it stutters and pops so it isnt a windows problem i think it is a problem with the sound in the game

audigy ones were unreliable, uncompatable and prone to frying some motherboards due to breaking the pci standard

as it is, i've got an audigy 2 (xp pro) with p580s and it works fine

Mine did something similar and it turned out that all it wanted was to live in the slot right next to the one it was in.

Lesson: Do not use a PCI slot as a cereal bowl.
