How do you allow uneven teams w/bots?

I know that you can turn off balance teams, and put the number of people in the map to double plus one to play against one more bot (all humans have to change to red team before we clicked to start and the extra bot goes to blue team first). This was great for when my group wanted to play 4 on 5 against bots to practice our team play. Now, we want to play 4 on 6 though. What is the best way to force all bots to the same team?

I've requested that Epic update the 'addbots' command to be able to add bots to a named team (red or blue). With this, you could set the number of bots in a game to 0, all players join the same team, and then add the bots from the console.

Unfortunately, this hasn't happened :( Hopefully it will be available in UT2K4 :D

Actually you can.

You have to enable Custom Bots.

Then go to configure the bots and force them to be on the same team color. ( blue for example )

Set a bot amount like 4.

Then log in and play on the red team.

Then use the addbots command and you can add the rest to that same color of the bot team.

I do it all the time and have the humans ( anywhere from 2 to 5 players ) play with 6 to 10 bots.

Hi boss,

I was just coming back to check if you had any luck.

I just wrote up some more specific details on how to do it:


Fire up UT2k3
Click Host Game
click Server Tab
Set a minimum Bot number ( Pick something low like 2 or 4 )
Click Use Custom Bots
** NOTE: This locks the minimum bot count
** NOTE: This also enables a new tab on top called Bot Config

Click on Bot config
Add Several bots to the team color that will be the bot team. ( about 6 or 8 )

( Add more than you plan to use. That way if you start with just 2 or 4 bots and need some more, you can have those spares available when you use the "addbots 1" command in the console )

I think there is a bug whenever you add a bot, it will always go to that one team.

For example, I have about 4 minimum bots in the Server config, and about 6 in the bot config listing added to the blue team. If i start a game and keep using the "addbots 1" command in the console, it will continuously add bots to the Blue team. I can add more than just the 6 that are preset on the blue team. Weird, but it works. :)
