Unreal Editor not working

I recently just got UT2003 and when I go to open the Unreal Editor it goes all dark and blank and its hard to explain..but then the desktop icons show up and are really big..i have no idea wuts wrong or how to fix it! someone help!

ive tried the 2225 patch..still it doesnt work. The screen goes blank first, then to a black screen and at the top it says something like prefab,then goes blank,then goes to a screen thats grey,and my mouse is stuck in the corner and the cursor is like a crosshiar..Does anyone know how to fix this!?
