does anyone know how to run this game without using the cd, i have downloaded all the latest patches.

Duno, do you have the 2225 patch. Try instally the first, the second, then third, etc.
If not try reseting the INI file, lots of trouble seem to come by modifing this file.

just upload to version 2225 then you dont need the cd :D

i have that patch installed already and it still requires the cd, not sure why it is

The 2225 patch removes the requirement to have the CD in the drive. If you are still being requested to have the CD in, reinstall the 2225 patch and see if that solves your problem.
