Amen to that, if the mac users want the games, get a PC, and use your mac for other purposes besides games.

I'd expect a demo around Nov. 16 with the game going gold Nov. 17 and then being shipped on Nov. 18 with orange manuals assuming that ETA is correct.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Epic will reinstate CD Protection. It's a bummer if they do, CD protection only hurts the end *legitimate* user. People who steal the game don't care either way, its just another patch to apply.

The Mac Full Game went gold almost 2 months ago and has been available. Nice catch though.

God forbid they want to finish the Mac version and try to get MORE people into the community. WE LOVE ALL THE SERVERS EMPTY.

Nothing to do with Epic, that's Atari's business...

I guarantee UT2k4 will start off with CD Protection, these big publishers just can't be bothered to spend the money to build better copy protection measures.

Besides why spend so much time working on the MAC version when MAC's only make up about 3-4 % marketshare?

Good point. To think that if the game wasn't supposed to be a "professional sport" and Epic didn't have to show it off at the CPL, then maybe there would be no need for UT2K4.

EDIT: I still enjoy the game, it's just that I feel like it was rushed and didn't include all the features that I read about.

Why are so many so of you people so negative? While it is good for developers to get positive and negative feedback from end users, some of the comments I'm seeing are not constructive and, in fact, some are downright destructive. Ripping on Mac users is unfair. I personally do not use Mac, but those that do are customers of Epic, DE, and Atari. And there are plenty of Mac users that play games.

It makes good business sense to include as many customers as possible with your products and services. Yeah, so what if Mark Rein promised a demo for May 2002 and we did not see it until October, or was it September (does not matter)? Do you guys live your lives based upon a game? Pretty sad if that is true. They delivered the game (Gold) a quarter later than originally projected. No big deal if the demo was released just weeks before the game came out. For me, it was worth the wait. And as far as the patches go, I am glad they have provided fixes for many of the bugs. Yes, the developers could have waited another quarter and released a more complete game, replete with bonus packs and fixes. But, Epic let us, the users, assist in finding bugs and they also listen when we have suggestions on the interface, controls, and other issues. I believe we have a better game for it.

Did anyones' lives fall apart because of the wait or because they feel the game was released too early? Did they fall apart because the game needed patches and bonus packs? I certainly hope not.

Epic and their business partners are working to make UT2004 a great product. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, okay? After all, Infogrames is nice enough to support this forum for all of us UT players to use. That's pretty cool that they also correspond with us on a fairly regular basis. How many other companies do that for their customers? Very few, I'll guarantee that.

Oh please. UT and Q3A report ping differently, hence the difference numbers. That doesn't mean one netcode is better than the other. If you experience any lag in Q3A you stop in you tracks. In UT you can still run around and survive, and play the game. Q3A shows lower ping times, doesn't mean it takes less time for packets to travel between server and client any faster.

Also I hate framerate-dependant play, which Q3A suffered from for so long, and UT never had that problem. In Q3A you had to reach that 120FPS mark the whole time to get maximum running speed. What a bad deal that was.

Nope. Movement speeds do not increase with framerate in UT2k3. And I think that bug has finally been fixed with Q3A.

Oh sorry, you were talking about netcode before. I meant Frame rate is depended on your connection speed.

But yea, UT2003 "tries" to maintain the same FPS rate moving or not moving your view.

Yeah, lol!. Anywho, to this i still wonder why did Epic bother in porting UT2003 to Apple OS, in my vague mind i figure that since Macs never crash and are also able to fly, perhaps they shouldn't have any problems running the game as well.:haha:

yeah mac's are only beeing used for the fancy mac_lovers that use it for 3D stuff or something...plus it's more expensive...mac can f*** off, if i'd rather try to make it work really great on linux, more important then mac i think...

What about Linux? I'm Linux only User and would love to play it.

One solution for the Mac-Issue: Compile the Linux-Version for PPC-Linux and your done. Linux is 4 free. Mac-Linux, too :) Only Problem would be 3d-acceleration.

One thing I will give Epic credit for this time around is their attitude with release guestimates etc...There has been No 'two weeks' and No 'when its done'...which is admirable....However, a lil idea on a demo release date wouldnt go astray.

Its been one month since Mark announced that there will be a demo...so...Can you give us any indication on how far the actual demo is away from being released thanks Mark?

Bah! The demo and game have been delayed! This statement was taken direct from UnrealSupport.com:

"After continuous discussions regarding certain issues we've come across in the development of UT2004, it has been decided that we should hold back on the release of the product until at least the 2nd Quarter 2004. We're sorry for the delay and would hope that are customers whom have been waiting so patiently, can wait a little longer for a product that will be completely polished and devoid of bugs."

Of course that could be a statement that they could give if the game was delayed ^^ Stop having your Heart Attacks! Thankfully it's not delayed afaik :D

But shudder be me if it was put on hold...
