View Full Version : Clients crash after map vote?

Hi people

Am experiancing some strange problems on our dedicated server.

When people vote their keybaords appear to lock out, and no key presses in UT2003 work. The mouse is fine, and you can Alt-Tab to Windows ok, if you wait the game crashes with Critical Error. If your lucky and the keyboard still works then UT2003 invariably crashes with a Critical Error.

We have tried MapVoteB11, UT2VoteB15, TTMv2 votings... they all do it, and it only seems to effect CTF.

The clients crash with errors as at the bottom of this post.

I have even reinstalled the game, with 2225 patch and bonus packs just TTM and the errors still happen.

Am completely stuck... any help greatly appreciated!

Ok firstly one needs the last part of the Clients log file.
You'll see near the end it will say "Critical"
Post from about 10 lines back to the end - that will tell us something.

Basically often when this happens is when you have too many paramters in your (UT2Vote) Commands= and (MapVote) Options=

When using UT2Vote make sure this is set like so in the ini file:
bAltSwitch=True

But judging from you GPF there seems to be a model on the server that does not have a skin or something.
Remove all custom models from the Serverpackages and see what happens.

ok, will grab the client log later.

I would like to agree with you that its something to do with the settings up Ut2Vote or MapVote, but we have removed all mutators, leaving ONLY TTMv2 installed... the votings work on DM maps but again CTF maps crash.

GPF? Not sure what u mean.... model missing?

DOH.. found the log and have uploaded it here Log File 250k (http://www.knowley.com/misc/ut2003.log) This is after installing ut2003 fresh with patch 2225, bonus packs, and the ttm d/l from server.

Hope u can make some sense from that?

Ok I've had a look at your log and it still seems that there is a Mesh missing somewhere that it cannot export to the players.

Does it cause a crash on any CTF map or just Chrome ?

Have you got Downloads switch off?

Can you email me your UT2003.ini file or whatever ini file you use on your server - that might help also.

But before you do that, make a copy of your UT2003.ini file, then delete the one on the server.
Start your server clean (no mutators etc) and see how that goes as a new UT2003.ini file will be created.

Btw.. GPF = General Protection Failure

It does crash on any ctf map.

No downloads are on and are redirected to http address, which is working fine > even if the file is not on the http space the utserver dishes it out ok.
