I'm 44 years old and have been gaming for a long time. I just bought UT2003 yesterday. I've been putting it off, mostly because I didn't see how they could come up with anything better than the original Unreal Tournament. I've spent today tweaking my system with the Tweaktown guides, then tweaking UT2003 with the game guide at Tweaktown. I downloaded and installed the bonus packs. I also downloaded and installed the beta 44.90 Detonators from Guru 3D (recommended). And I've been playing, playing, playing. This might be the best game ever made. Total eye candy and absolute mayhem! Brilliant! Truly a worthy successor to the original classic! I can't wait for UT2004!

Cheers!

I agree it's a fun game. But my advice ATM is to sell it on ebay and wait for ut2004 (it includes everything from ut2003). <==More bang for your buck. It is 2-4 months away from release (sept or nov). Soo... why buy the same game twice? :)

very encouraging to see "older" gamers - you're never too old to have fun or like doing what you like doing - so, welcome, well done and enjoy your time here in the animal house!!

Thanks for the welcome! I figure I'll get 3-4 months practice with UT2003 and then buy UT2004 when it comes out. At that point, UT2003 will join the game archives, ha ha! I've done some 3D modeling and skins for my flight sims in the past. I'm thinking that I might learn the editing tools for this and try my hand at mods eventually. I can see this game becoming a hobby, with me buying the new version each year.

Cheers!

Rick...:)

Don't sell it off, you can get rebate with UT2004. And who knows? It could be pushed back to 2005.

Great to meat you. I myself am but 18, and Honest know very little old Gamers. The oldest I know is 42.

I love that now games can be acced by anyage, espacaly UT with all it's skill levels and graphicweacks, it makes for a gameaybody can jumpin at any point and easily find the skill there best at. Great to se it happen in persion.

Age is a state of mind.

You guys make me feel young, again, a mere 37 old here.

Yep, this game is fantastic, what with all the mods and new quality maps coming out all the time, hopefully it's here to stay (with annual upgrades of course).

Wow, I feel like a real geezer in here. I'm 54 and have been gaming since Wolf3d days. I play mostly ut2003, but still play Doom, Quake Series, and Sam. I've made a couple maps for UT,
and UT2003, and have done a few skins. It's truly amazing to me , what can be done with the new editor. If you can imagine an environment you can , with enough editing skills, put it in the game. It,s about the closest thing to the holodeck I'm likely to see in my lifetime. Anyway ,fraggin ain't just for the young, Watch out, or this geezer will put a rocket up your ass!

Wow! You have me beaten in the age dept.! :p

I thought i was the oldest one at 45! :D

But don't let the age fool you younger players, not only am i a leader of a clan, but i play nightly and in matches too!

Proof positive that in the electronic battlefield, youth isn't an advantage all the time! ;)

computing since 1988, starting with a Coomodore 64 :D

UT, Q1, Q2, Q3, Doom, SF2 ect....

Anyways as long as you guys are giving out ages I'm 52 myself...

And I just bought the game today and installing it right now. Any good tips n' tricks appreciated...of course I will read the forurm but hey maybe there is something that is not here you want to share with us "older folks"

Just built a newer system P4 3.0 ghz 800 on a ASUS P4C800-E with 1 gig Corsair XMS3500C RAM, Radeon 9800 PRO. Still have my older Athlon 1800+. This is my forth new system I've built > :D

Thanks for having me, great board !

Well For the youngest, my son plays with the bots set to Skilled and he just turned 5. He's been playing for little more than a year. He started on UT and the UT for the PS2, but has moved up to UT2K3.

I thought I was the only old guy around... at 35 :D Yea... In EF i've run into some 10 year olds... That really makes me feel old.

I've been a Star Trek Elite Force guy for a while and a whole list of games before.

But it's great to see I'm not alone.

I just picked up the game last night.
I only played for about an hour.... I think I did OK for an old guy...

heh - good to see the seniors are out in force. Why, in my day...ramble ramble

I'm 40 (and faulty too methinks) - only been playing UT1 (and some quake) for the past 4 years but I used to play Defender in the pub in 1980! Most of my fellow clan-mates are OAPs too.
