View Full Version : U2 editor --> UT2003 maps?

Hi all,
Just signed up cos I'm having some problems with U-Ed 3.0 at the moment. I have both UT2003 and U2 installed and for some reason, the Unreal Editor that came with UT2003 has stopped working. However, the U-Ed 3.0 that came with Unreal 2 works fine.
So, is it possible to use the Unreal 2 version to make maps for UT2003? I notice that all the actors and textures etc are from Unreal 2. Can I change to UT2003 stuff?
I also posted this in the U2 forum. Sorry if you're reading this twice.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Short answer: Nope. The editors are incompatible.

Hey Angle Mapper! I've read your tutes!
Damn.. that's a pity... I'll try re-installing UT2003. Cos the Editor worked for about the first 4 or 5 uses.. (fingers crossed...)

Hmm... didn't realize it might have been broken THAT way... My "White viewport thread" radar didn't register anything. :haha:

also, if ued3 is giving errors instead of starting, can deleting unrealed.ini possibly fix the problem like it sometimes does with deleting ut2003.ini when the game has errors?
Anyhow, post any errors you get or describe what happens...

AAAGH!!! That was the exact problem! White viewports! Well... one big white one.
But I copied and pasted some System files from U2 into the UT2003 folder and now the editor doesn't start at all! Dammit... Ok, I'll reinstall and then if I have the same problem, I'll try your solution.
Thanks guys. I'll get back to you..

Yeah. The only ones I copied were the 5 that start with "UnrealEd". But it was enough to destroy the Editor. I feel so proud.
