hi ppl,
ive been playing for a while now, there seems to be a split in the skill set used by each player. for example over the last few weeks ive discovered that players are using autoaim switches. so a player can play in the game run around. while there running around the gun will lock to the target resulting in extra kills per game. is this legal. there are ppl playing with autoswitches one example would be flak/lightning gun switch again is this legal. could anyone direct me to some info on this subject if its legal.
its becoming really annoying in game time

Well aimbots are technically 'legal' but they're not allowed. I think most servers have some sort of protection against some of them. If they're becoming a problem, i guess you could give their names to the server admin or something.
What do other people think?

hi,
thanks for your reply, i understand aimbots and there legal non legal terms and of course server admins job to protect other users, however ive be speaking to some guys and they seem to think these switches are perfectly legal and not linked to the term aimbot what so ever. one player said its more to do with weapon combining i.e flak left click and setting your right click to lightning gun, as if your carrying two guns at once. i have only seen this combo with rocket/lightning & flak/lightning. i have been in contact with server admin as well complaining about illegal aimbots being used............. well they have said stop complaining.
if these are indeed legal where can i find details on these switches/aimbots.
if there not i am prepared to name and shame

Errr things for aiming are usually aimbots, decent servers run things like UTsecure that check their md5 database against the clients md5's to see if any of the files have been modified.
apart from the aiming thing though I would guess you're describing a simple alias.
check the ut2003.ini and user.ini in the ut2003\system folder and then do a search on google for tips as to what to put as special binds.
Personally I find them pointless and they reduce your skill at the game by making you lazy when you use them. Best aliases are for orders/directions in team games or for giving out your status and location so your team mates can help you out of a tough spot in invasion.

They are legal in terms of you wont be arrested for using them, but they illegal in teh community. People who use aimbot cheats ruin the excitement and challange of the game. Name and shame them, they deserve to be pimped. :P
