Hi. I can't get this patch to work. I was assuming you downloaded it to somewhere in /usr/local/src, untarred it, ran the updater and it would work, but it didn't. Should i have untarred it into the main directory and overridden the System folders and whatnot?
I did that as a last measure but the only thing that happened was the updater said it coudln't update and i lost my sound. Any help would be great, even if i have to uninstall and reinstall and then patch correctly.
thanks,
dan

Hi.
I have the same problem. I hacked up the updator file so that update runs. In your installation directory there is dir called updator. there you will find the file called updator. vi it and change the PRODUCT=ut2003 to full path (in my case /drive2/ut2003)
export UPDATER_PATH=/drive2/ut2003/updater
(NOTE that /drive2/ is where I installed ut)
The problem I am getting is that NONE of the mirrors that the updator knows about has the damn patch. So my next step is to use the patch that I have downloaded. Set it to /var/www/html and start the web server. Then figureout how to point the updator to the location of the patch. (what a dumn thing anyway)

When you get the updator to run it looks for file on epic site:
http://unreal.epicgames.com/linux/ut2003/updates.txt
There you will see the list of sites that has the updates on them. You can look at this one for exanmple:
ftp://ftp.edome.net/mirror/beyondunreal/official/ut2003
As you see there are all the updates. Windows and Linux. EXE and bz2 but THERE ARE NO .bin files which is what the updator wants to download and run. Id you know where to get the .bin format of the patch. (or how to make one out of .tar / .zip) then you can hack your /etc/hosts file to trick the updator to look for unreal.epicgames.com on 127.0.0.1 IP (your local host) and make the updates.txt file there to send the updator to your box to get the patch and to install it.
What a pain in the butt! Can epics at least make the bug fixes easier to install on Linux! Any way. Getting pissed off will not help. Let's try to find a .bin form of the patch (note that earlier patches come in .bin format)
